Congratulations @Octain for being smoke free for 9 months. Well done. That's a great quit you have their Octain and you are 75% of the way to the Lido Deck and your first whole year of freedom. That is an awesome quit you have built there. It is great being able to share this journey with you. Celebrations and rewards are still important, so make sure you do something special to celebrate your achievement, cos 3/4 of a year is a bit special.4 points

OK so ten month update.... So I have quit, I don't smoke.... my issues now are silly and pedantic... I'm not comfy with the term quitting, because that isn't right, the moment I had that last smoke I quit... so I choose not to smoke because I have quit..... that's it done... but yeah-nah-kinda-sorta meh .... for health reasons I wont be playing softball this season but we had our pre-season tournament last weekend and I went down to watch me mates... so when I watch softball I would usually smoke 4-5 ciggies a game....most people at softball smoke... most of me mates smoke and it was awful... I didn't want one, wasn't tempted... actually had to physically prevent myself from scrunching up my nose at the foul smell. .... then there were the ones who were shocked I still don't smoke and spent the day offering me smokes... like I was some school kid who would bow to peer pressure... It was actually really sad... BUT.... the positives... I was not tempted, I did not even consider it, I was physically repulsed.... Actually that past month... best not smoking month ever... better than all the months before... and better than every single month of that huge quit I tossed away years ago... don't get me wrong I know I still have to actively nope, I now that I am just one puff away from a pack a day... always will be... but I feel like this is a done deal now... I feel confident.... I feel secure... and it is at this point that I need to thank my cheer squad... I have to thank those who make me laugh (endorphins are an awesome natural high... so much better than nicotine crap).... thank those who talk me out of my crazy (you know who you are oh wise sage ones).... those who put up with my crazy... playing hide and seek with much loved (by some threads), shit stirin me mates cos I'm in a mood.... thank those who listen to me whinge and whine and moan and groan... you fellas all deserve frickin medals. So a few of you have thanked me for supporting others around the boards... I think you need to all take a look in the mirror... I don't do anything not everyone one of you hasn't done at least once... I had to learn that shit from somewhere... pretty sure its the example of all the old phartes ahead of me.... I love that you guys thank me... but seriously we are a team and almost to a person we are all here putting in what we can, when we can because someone did that for us at some point in our journey... that's why we are succeeding... all of us... because there is a give and a take.... so thank you for my double digit woohoos... love every single one of them... and thank you all for proping up my ego so I believed I had the strength to do this... because you were all right, I do, I have, I will and I am.4 points

Thanks everyone. I never would have thought it. It’s funny, I still smell my hands in disbelief. They don’t smell of cigarettes. I was so brainwashed into thinking that I could never quit that I never even seriously tried. Hands-down quitting is the very best thing I have ever done for myself. I honestly don’t think I would have made it past the first few months without this forum. This place was really my only support. Thanks so much, quitrain! I’m saving my celebrations for the Lido deck. That 65 inch LCD is getting closer by the day.3 points

Greetings NOPErs, today fri 5th of October is World Teachers Day... which is well worth a shout out... they say those that can do those that can't teach... I say bullshit... you ever tried to teach anyone anything... its a skill and a calling and there are some teachers out there who are absolutely amazing... I bet every one of you has at least one teacher or coach who despite however old you are now you remember and you remember what they taught you. So to all my teachers here who have taught me the importance of NOPE I say thank you. NOPE ... not today.3 points

I hope you’ll be back soon. And I’m sorry for what you’re going through. Smoking will not help, but I understand the mental state you’re in and won’t preach, not today.3 points

Was huge, out of nowhere bump! I am truly loving this quit, despite the craves but yesterday was bad...but shortlived, got through it and moving on. I generally this quit, get craves..immediately look at all the no smoking benefits...and am fine. LOVE MY QUIT2 points

He certainly is a big one! .. I’m a little more accustomed to 7 pounders... lol everyone is doing great and the older sisters are on their way up to meet the little guy. Troy picked Lexi from school and my youngest daughter picked the other 2 up from day-care... Audrey ( their youngest daughter.. almost 3 years old) is upset.. when told about her new little brother “Drew”... she had a melt down because his name is supposed to be “Jackson” !!.. she wanted to know “how could her mom do that??!!” ? ? They should be heading home tomorrow if everyone/everything checks out ok the rest of the day.2 points

There is a lot of misinformation about when your body is completely clear from nicotine. It is more than a few days for your body to get rid of nicotine, a lot depends on how long/how much you smoked. Tar isn't expelled from the lungs quickly....it is tar for heaven's sake...you need gasoline to get it off your feet ! The good news is that, in time, it will leave your body completely and quit harassing the receptors in your brain. Please cut yourself some slack. Your body is working overtime purging out the nicotine and creating new, clean synapses in your brain. All this is serious healing that you cannot see, that is part of the magic. You can see and appreciate how far you have come in a short time. You can see how you have changed your patterns, how you have taken full control of your life ! You ARE free, part of you just hasn't caught up with the rest. I know you are tired of hearing us say, ' be patient, things will start to get a whole lot better' but, you have to trust us. We don't lie.2 points
