  1. Good morning fellow NOPErs and a special Good Morning to anyone out there lurking and considering joining or re-joining us because this one is especially for you... Thanks to the American calendar of days I now know that today is All or Nothing Day .... this is a concept as old as time but the Romans were the first to coin a special term for it... “Carpe Diem” or seize the day. All Or Nothing Day takes that spirit and urges people to break through their barriers, ignore the fears that hold them back, and make that big commitment to a better life. Everyone has something they would love to do if only they weren’t so scared. All Or Nothing Day is the day for the girding of loins, taking it on the chin, and confronting those fears. As it says, by breaking the deadlock you may end up with all or nothing, but at least the barrier is broken. You succeed or fail, but are no longer paralysed by indecision.... so why not Seize the Day and make 26th July the first day of your quit, the first day you pledge NOPE, Not One Puff Every, even if its just for the day... then I'll see you right back here same time tomorrow so we can pledge it again for another 24 hours. NOPE ... cos nothing controls my life but me o Topic of the Day: Mythical Creatures

  14. I had a craft show today, sometimes if it's a show close to her house, my sister will come halfway through the show to give me a bathroom break - (and used to be a smoke break, too). She came in and sat down & the smoke smell nearly gagged me! I looked around because I felt like my fellow crafters sitting beside & behind me were probably ready to hurl also. Normally it doesn't bother me at all. I was actually embarrassed. The smell dissipated after awhile, but YUCK. I sure am glad I never smelled like that!!!!!!

  16. Thinking of you, Pork Chop. Hope your belly and head are OK. I think this is my fifth day and the headache/cramps are subsiding with time and walks and heating pads. Yesterday, I had a Celebrex and was druggy happy nothing hurt at all. la la la la la la la. Today, nothing is hurting, poo-ing is getting better. I took laxatives and stool softener. Digestive tract issues and headache and IRRITABILITY are my main issues. I am relying on PeaceTrain's experience that everything is better without Caffeine. She does not lie. Hey Pork Chop ! You don't need no stinking caffeine anymore. Why just think of the beautiful temple, no SHRINE, your body is going to be clear of nicotine/caffeine/alcohol. Hang in there, bebe.

  18. My heart is breaking with the developing crisis in Greece with their Bush fires. It is a devastation that those of us down here know so well. In all the horror that is going to emerge in the coming day there will be the stories of heros and miracles I am praying for lots and lots of those. I live in Melbourne, we are the home of the largest Greek speaking community outside Greece lots of us know someone personally affected so this hits home. So to all in Greece, you are in my thoughts and prayers. We know that you will be like your national animal and rise from the ashes. Αγάπη και προσευχές στην Ελλάδα. Μπορείτε να σηκωθείτε από τις στάχτες σαν ένα φοίνικα πολύ, πολύ σύντομα.

  22. Merry Christmas in July to all the lovely NOPErs.... It was great to cook a three course meal and not have to juggle everything around smoke breaks.... loving a smoke free christmas, even if it is just a proxy one. SO its a NOPE for me.

  24. Yes you need to enjoy your life and if quitting too many things you previously enjoyed is making your life miserable then by all means don't get rid of it all at once. I think what these people are saying though is that they are tackling these other habits/addictions that they feel are causing them some degree of harm one at a time and learning over time to live comfortably without them just as most of us have done when we quit smoking. Bite off only what you can chew so to speak without making yourself too miserable for too long.

  26. Way to go Jazzy Sazzy and Pork Chop.... so I have been alcohol free for 6 years and found that hardest part of that was explaining why I didn't want a drink... still cutting down the smokes so that is will be my post Lido deck goal.... I'll be honest I am not sure I will be able to go caffeine free but I want to so that's a start... and I have cut down.... so baby steps.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
