  6. Congrats on 3 weeks Richard. For me personally, once I got to three weeks I felt I had crossed a threshold. That was the point where I knew I had invested a lot of effort and did not want to throw it all away. The thought of having to start over and go through those 3 weeks all over again just wasn't an option. There were still some struggles after 3 weeks, but I knew there was no going back. I'm so glad I drew that line in the sand......hope it's the same for you.

  7. Congratulations on your quit. I have taken baths every night for the last 50 plus years. Not sure why you think having a daily bath is a problem? Is there something I don't know lol. I bought really expensive bath products and body lotions like Estée Lauder, gucci etc when I quit. I smelt so good that I wouldn't have wanted to cover that smell with smoke. I also bought strong washing liquid and softener for my clothes. Smelling nice was a big part of why I never lit up.

  14. Exercise and deep breathing got me through those moments when I felt irritable or let myself get all wound-up during the early days of the quit. I don't even remember the last time I wanted a cigarette but still use the deep breathing exercises I learned when I quit daily. Taking a little pause for the cause and breathing intentionally is just a good way to get yourself centered again. I don't want to make light of the flatulence situation, but I'm not really sure how much worse my farts were when I quit. Our sense of smell is improving at the same time our digestive system is adjusting. Not sure if the farts are worse or if they're just magnified by our improved ability to smell things.

  15. I finally WANT to quit. Until now its just been knowing I NEED to quit. Thank goodness. I'm not sure why or how the switch went on in my head but I'm glad it did! I can't find my signature area to put my ticker info on. This is hard for me to admit because I'm a techy, but I'll be darned if I can find it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  17. Wow I hadn't heard that @Linda Thomas but I agree with @Rozuki, no way am I letting anyone I don't know in while I'm gone. I open the garage and have the instacart shopper put the groceries on the washer and dryer and I bring them inside after they leave. Im glad delivery is working out for your parents Linda, that's HUGE for you

  18. Michelle. I hope you're still here. I'm assuming you figured out how to make your ticker but now you need to know how to get to your signature so you can paste it there. If so, copy your ticker......then: Click on the drop down arrow next to your name in the upper right hand corner, then click on ACCOUNT SETTINGS (see below) The SETTINGS window will appear. Click on SIGNATURE (see below) Finally, paste your ticker in SIGNATURE box (see below) and click SAVE.

  20. Hi Richard, glad you're feeling a bit better today. And please take some comfort in knowing that what you are going through is completely normal for where you are in your quit. A lot of members have also found that once they were further along in their quit their anxiety actually lessened and the attacks were fewer and farther between. l Hopefully this will be true for you as well. You also talked about hoping that once you feel better you wouldn't cave to a crave. One thing I did was each month on my monthaversary I would read my threads from the beginning just to remind myself of how brutal my first few months were and to not forget where I came from! I highly recommend doing that

So sorry to read that your wife has passed due to lung cancer.....I have a friend just recently diagnosed with it...and it is something those of us with long smoking histories will have to be vigilant about by getting the low-dose lung scan every year. Read everything you can here and check out the Joel videos...and participate in the forums...you will find support for yourself here and help support others on this journey!

  27. Hey Michelle -- good on the commitment to quit. As to your signature go to your profile (upper right of page with your picture) then go to account settings -- on the left you should see signature click on that and should take you to the set-up for your signature.

C Cheers BKP - If you want something enough then you'll do it, so I've always believed it's just my body/mind seems to work against me sometimes, it's just gone 6am here and feeling more positive again, I think my mind gives me a downer from time to time, maybe it's the addictive part trying to make me smoke again, I don't know, in the past I've had a miserable moment and used it as an excuse, it's not working this time so I'm sticking 2 fingers up to the little devil inside if you see what I mean? He sneaks up on me though when I least expect it. Got up to take the dog for a good walk but it's bucketing down today so he'll have to wait, still bloated, still flatulating [is that a word] but at least I've been able to moan about it somewhere, it's appreciated. For a treat I'm off out today for a bit of retail therapy - time to buy some new clothes - thanks again
