  4. Greetings NOPErs... today is Halloween but lets look at the Celtic festival of Samhain... or "Summers End"... it was a time to call on your ancestors to celebrate the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter, or the "darker half" of the year. Traditionally, it is celebrated from 31 October to 1 November. It was believed that the Aos Sí (spirits, fae) needed to be soothed so that the people and their livestock survived the winter. Offerings of food and drink were left outside for them, and in Ireland turnips would be carved into faces (much like pumpkins, and because pumpkins hadn't be discovered yet). At Samhain the vale between this world and the other was thinned and the souls of the dead were also thought to revisit their homes seeking hospitality. Feasts were held, at which the souls of dead family were called to attend and a place set at the table for them. Part of the festival involved people going door-to-door in costume (or in disguise), often reciting verses in exchange for food. The costumes may have been a way of imitating, and disguising oneself from, the Aos Sí. NOPE ... pretty sure my ancestors are very happy with my smoke free state....

  23. Well I lost my elderly friend this morning. Tough stuff. I so loved this lady and the time I spent with her. There will definitely be a huge void in my life. I will admit that death and smoking is hard. Smoking was a huge part of the very low moments in our life. It is almost automatic to want to reach for that comfort. As a smoker, there are times in our lives that the smoking; not the people gave us the companionship that we needed. This definitely was a test in my quit, but instead of giving in, it helped me realize the connection that I often isolated myself when I was hurting and I smoked to ease the pain of the hurt. I came through okay. I am really experiencing the emotions of the loss and crying! Am posting a picture of my friend and I on her 103rd birthday. She almost made it to her 104th in January!

  27. Yes, there's a very small brand name print just above the filter on each cig now. It's very tiny, thin lettering so not much ink. What they are proposing is a bold copy printing of SMOKING CAUSES CANCER all along the paper tube, from filter to tip so, a lot more ink per cigarette. It would stand out and be seen by everyone looking at a cigarette that's for sure!

  29. Don't your smokes already have the brand name on the tube... ours do... it used to be a joke, can you smoke in one long drag until it saya "brand name"....and drunk morons would do it and you would then say.. But I didn't hear it.... stupid drunk teen shit... anyway.... they already have the brand printed on the smoke, whats the difference if they have a warning...sheesh.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
