  5. Good morning fellow NOPErs and welcome to Friday. Today in the USA it is college colours day which research tells me is a way to promote college sports, and particularily pin your colours to the mast and show just where your loyalties lie. Down Under it is a similar type day in NSW, they celebrate Jersey Day where people are asked to wear their rugby jerseys to promote awareness of organ donation and the importance of letting your family know your wishes. So I went hunting a red, black & white or a green and gold college but found the Austin Roos.... had to be the skippies I thought....until I saw this.... NOPE to cigs... yep to colours....

  8. Thanks everyone!! I've been really busy after starting a new job (which I love) so it took me a while to get back here.. I have a new found confidence since quitting which is having a ripple effect in positive ways. I still get occasional thoughts of smoking but I know I'm not going back to it. Hope everyone else is doing well!

  13. Get ready to watch the EJ Whitten Legends Match.... a state of origin match... which sees retired footy players from Victoria take on retired footy players from every other state in a combined team... yep we are just that good all the other states have to combine their fire power to compete against us... Its a fundraiser for prostrate cancer (what Teddy (EJ) died of).... AAMI came on board this year and they are donating $1000 for any torp kicked from outside the 50... torps (torpedos) are a kick that is a specific skill of aussie rules that is dying out because the long game isn't played as much anymore.... there is nothing as beautiful as a torp... most of the players are in there 50s & 40s...

  24. The first few weeks are kind of like having a contrary 2 year old take up residence in ya head. I want that toy but as soon as you get it nope, I want that other thing.... there is no rationalising with it you just have to ride it out. But you only have to focus on one day at a time... that's it, just one little day. no more, no less... you can do this. You did it yesterday. You did it the day before so you know you can. Now you just need to do it for today, just one little day. Jillar is right, despite what that little junky voice in your head says, you do care... so post all the random crazy thoughts... even the completely insane ones... the first 3 months of my quit I was obsessed with ways that Australia could take over the world... I even formulated a whole plan and program for this to happen... no that is crazy! But my crazy plans for world domination saw me through some tight spots. We all find something that works for us... when you do run with it, it doesn't matter how odd or crazy it is as long as it isn't hurting you or anyone else then just go with it sweety because it will help and it will work.

  25. Thanks for the replies....Day 5 completed at noon...it is a very tiny bit better...tiny tiny I made a ticker and like what I see ( can't get it on my posts yet though) Making a list of good things right now....quite a few when I wrote them down. Using air cig ..straw style, candy stick style and just nothing style Always busy but even busier now, tired but keep going so no time to get stupid and buy cigs, I hardly allow myself time to get to work, no time to go to station to buy a pack and have that just one I am trying...I want this....on to day 6 soon.....

  26. Here is some of our anecdotal evidence of quitting, Your First Days Nicotine Free I went on to primal screaming showers, walks, dance, I sucked on a stick of cinnamon like Jillar's Air Cigarette and studied until my eyes bled about addiction, watched all of the scary tobacco related movies. It can be exhausting. Sleep. Reward yourself on your first days of Freedom. You are inspiring. S

  27. Yes you do care parsley, that's why you're posting I used my air cigarette when bad craves hit. I just pretended I was holding a real cigarette in my fingers and then went through the motions of "smoking" it. It worked great at tricking my brain into thinking it was getting the real thing. Some people use cut straws or pens etc. Each day you succeed is one more day you never have to go through again. You're doing awesome

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
