  1. Greetings fellow NOPErs... today is the start of Spring down below the equator and Autumn for those of you above the line. There are a plethora of awareness months in September and weeks that begin today. It has taken me all day to find a focus for my NOPE but it has been bought to us by the kid who when she asked if I had NOPEd today and I hadn't had a chat with me... So down under in the great southern land it is the beginning of Asthma Awareness Week... so even though I didn't smoke while I was pregnant or feeding the kid is asthmatic... I never smoked in the house, or the car (after I had the kid) but when we were talking about how good her asthma has been this winter she said she thinks its been better because I don't smoke anymore... she said even the smell on me would make her feel tight in the chest and now that doesn't happen all the time.... SO of course I felt bad and guilty but then she said "thank you for quitting" and I felt like I wasn't quite so bad after all..... so for anyone out there lurky and thinking about not quitting.... word is from Ms 12, the bronchial asthmatic, that me not smoking has helped her asthma be less of an impact on her life, what a great incentive to finally quit, it helps your kids asthma because even if you take every precaution not to smoke anywhere near them "the smell of it on you made me chest feel tight and squeezey". NOPE... cos I love me kid!

  4. Congratulations @Linda Thomas for being smoke free for 1 month! Well done Linda for your first month of freedom. That is the hardest month, done, dusted, and put firmly behind you never to be visited again. It is wonderful having you with us to share your journey and you are already paying it forward with the support you offer to your fellow quitters. So rewards are a very important part of being quit and re-wiring our brains and just plain fun. So you need to do something special to celebrate your first, wonderful month and the the hard work, perseverance and commitment you have given to yourself. Make sure to let us know how you treat yourself too.

  9. Good morning fellow NOPErs.... and welcome to Father's Day. Hope all our dad's and grandad's (not just the Aussie ones) have a fantastic day today. I'm off for a drive to the country with my dad and the kid to visit my baby sister at her bakery where we will do lunch or arvo tea or something. I gave my dad the best father's day gift 9 months ago when I quit... doesn't mean he doesn't have a nice collection of fancy beer sitting in my fridge to be handed over later today. So... for (Australian) Father's Day I say ..... NOPE ... not on Sundays or Father's Day

  10. Thank you Jo ? having a chill day today, just pottering around the house and finishing off washing clothes from being away. Can’t believe I’m at 7 months already, this second half of the year is going so much quicker than the first. I’m in a comfortable place with my quit now, just riding the waves ? Thanks for being part of my journey, love your funny posts ?

  17. Confession: I waste spend an inordinate amount of time googling historical events because I see them pop up in the 1-20,000 game and I think I am going to miss that when we get past history... I am getting a little excited that there might be some Aussie history soon... we have nearly been discovered and claimed by Cookie. only a couple of decades to go.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
