  15. Great stuff. Ashamed to be a musician and admitting I had forgotten this until you posted. RIP. What a great funk bass line and playing it with a pick on a hollow body electric bass.

  19. Thank you, Jillar!! I am seeing my Mom this Tuesday as we celebrate her 87th birthday at the nursing home/rehab center. She will be impressed with her awesome stats! As per the new NYS Covid-19 rules: We have to show a negative covid test result from W/I last 7 days to visit with her for 1/2 hour. They only allow 2 visitors at a time. There are 5 of us siblings. You do the math! Right after we visit with her, we have to book an appt to visit her next week (only 1 visit per week) then get another covid test and hope there isn't a delay in getting the results back as right now could take 2-6 days for results!!!! I was lucky this time-got my results back in less than 2 days. If you want the rapid test, you have to find a place doing it....and they charge $50 for that even if you have insurance. Such a mess...but we will be bringing cupcakes for all...lemon w/ lemon cake and chocolate w/ yellow cake...Mom's favorites!

  23. Hi Shezi, welcome to the Quit Train and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking! Like you, I used nicotine patches to help me quit. They were a godsend and made quitting so much easier (I had one other quit that was cold turkey). Personally, I don't think I would continue with nicotine (mints) after finishing the patches. I was very nervous at each step down in the patches. I had a little brain fog when I stepped down from 21 mg to 14 mg. I didn't notice any physical withdrawal symptoms when I stepped down from 14 mg to 7 mg and same thing when I went from 7 mg to no nicotine. So, for me, there was no reason to be nervous at all! I know we're all different though so you should do whatever you feel most comfortable with. Sounds like you are doing really well. Best wishes to you for a successful quit!

  24. Unfortunately, most of Merritt's videos are blocked here in America. I'm sure I've mentioned it before but I hate the practice of Sony and UMG blocking music videos...now is not the time for that rant. Here is one video I found that those of us in the States can access...

  27. Hello everyone , Thanks for the thread jillar !!!! I was going to post a thread about this , but there it was already ... Yes , i am still smoke free and it feels good . Cigarettes are out of my life and i don't even like the smell of it these days when anyone smokes near me . Going through a tough time here because of the Covid 19 issues . Other than that everything is good .

  29. Howdy! Thank you all for the well wishes! Can you believe the day almost got by me!?! That’s how awesome it gets the longer you live your life as a non-smoker. I vividly remember the angst I felt early in my quit. I lived minute to minute, hour to hour, day to day and so on - waiting for my thoughts to focus on something other than not smoking. I was glued to my nonsmoking app and quit smoking board/forum. A few of you are still here and YOU LED ME TO FREEDOM! You pulled me out of the strongest clutches of the Crave and helped heal the heartbreak as I slowly stopped romancing the cigarette. A nostalgic, celebratory drag is a guarantee to falling back into the arms of your heinous ex. NOPE!!

  32. There's a lot of people both ex smokers and never smokers who hate when I suggest this clue but I tell you what, it really did work for me and a lot of others. And I got the clue from another member of the forum I was on. I really missed the hand to mouth thing too and this did a great job until I was strong enough to let it go as well. And fyi, my husband is a never smoker too and he also asked me all the time that shouldn't I be "over it" already. And this was only after a couple months quit. My point being that people who have never smoked can never really understand what we go through when quitting both mentally and physically. So cut your hubby and any other never smoker some slack but keep doing whatever works for you to stay smoke free

  36. I've been quit for 17 1/2 years, and by a conservative estimate I have not spent $48,106.50 on cigarettes that I otherwise would have spent during that time. That's assuming, of course, that I would have survived the widowmaker heart attack and cardiac arrest I experienced (at age 40) seven years AFTER I quit, which every physician I've encountered tells me would not have happened had I still been a smoker. About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
