  5. Hi Andrew, sorry about the increased anxiety, that happens to a lot of us when quitting. Others feel some depression. Luckily this too is usually only temporary and will pass but if it's really getting to you I recommend a Dr visit. Not only can he help put your mind at ease but he may be able to prescribe a temporary med to help you past it. And it's so nice to be able to tell your dr you quit smoking

  7. Day 3 & checking in- believe it or not this little bit of accountability really helps Adding up the days smoke free- This hasn't been easy but there is no reason it can't be done. I know nicotine is a drug and i'm an addict. I can never ever ever take even one puff. Past is behind me, I control the future. I decide to live.

  10. Hi Andrew, not sure if this is of any help to you right now... but my guess would be that its your body and brain re-adjusting. Do you know these magic doors with huge locks, where every piece has to fall in place for the door to open? Your brain is doing something like that now. Finding new ways. And Im not surprised about that bit of anxiety there. It will pass, Im sure. Figure out what you need to get through these moments safe and sound. Its an excellent time for some soul searching! My anxiety spiked somewhere between months 3 - 7, after that it gradually lessened. Im now better off than ever, anxiety-wise. Quitting smoking is a huge deal and Im so glad I did it.

  12. G’day I’m going into a local shopping centre, there’s little mister 1 1/2 toddling along with mum and dad in tow. The Mum.....”You realise if we don’t get nappies this time I’m going to cut the towels into 1/2 and make cloth nappies.” The Dad..... “just like the hippies.” The Mum.....”Yep.. and with you working from home you’ll have time to wash them!” The Dad.... To the little Guy “Hey buddy recon it’s time for toilet training! Dad will show you how to piss on the lemon tree?” The Mum ...... “ Really? Be serious!” The Dad.... “ I Am” We live in strange times.....

  13. Congrats AceWhite on 3 days of freedom, be really proud of yourself, you are doing a great thing for yourself, and each day you will feel better for ditching the smokes. Don’t forget to reward yourself with small gifts to help stay motivated, or having a bigger reward at the end of week one. Having regular rewards really helped me . it’s great to spend your money on something you really want or need .

  14. I was actually thinking about doing this is it persists. I am not a fan of prescribed medicine unless it’s absolutely necessary. luckily when i had the panic / anxiety attack episode a few weeks back which resulted in the hospital visit, then ran all sorts of tests ... blood work, chest x ray , ECG , stress test , etc and all looked good. But anxiety is a different breed and somewhat new to me ... outta nowhere it strikes and then passes ...

  18. Hello Andrew, Learn how to calm yourself down. Deep breathing, meditation or exercise are a few things that can help you learn how to soothe yourself. Often, smoking disguised our feelings, hid them behind the veil of smoke. Instead of dealing with issues we often just lit up a smoke. We all did this. Many new feelings may be surfacing for you, now that you are not putting nicotine first. Smoking can also keep physical issues hidden. This is more common that you can imagine. Please consult your doctor with any issues, physical or emotional. If you have concerns, keep a log. This will help you better communicate with your health professional. The whole world is very concerned with COVID-19. The only thing to do is prepare and keep yourself healthy. Stress is not useful. Stress is harmful. As I mentioned earlier, find techniques to calm yourself. Check out these Resources Regarding Interaction Between Nicotine and Stress by Joel Spitzer,

  20. Well done making it this far. I'm walking along in this early quit zone, too. Alternately fine, then abruptly raging. NOPE. Not One Puff Ever... Happy to walk with you AceWhite. Outsmart yourself when the addict thinking shows up. I have just been sitting down and reading this site and playing games. Hardly seems like outsmarting, yet I seem to come through calmer and with drama dialed down. lol Eventually, my junkie self shuts up and I move on to another activity.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
