  3. Doing well! Besides the 9 pound weight gain, everything is going well. There are many days where i don't even think about smoking. Decided to do a sober February and my family is showing solidarity by giving up sweets. I'm drinking half caf coffee. No depression and the anxiety has lessened due to work stress going down for the time being. Thanks for checking in.

  7. The Smoking Cessation: A Report of The Surgeon General 2020 references John Polito’s book Freedom from Nicotine at WHYQUIT.com. In chapter One of the report it mentions that cold turkey is the way that most people have quit smoking and cites John’s book as one of the references addressing this issue. The new video from Joel Spitzer and its resource page discuss that while the report still pushes pharmacological interventions, the Surgeon General is acknowledging that cold turkey is how the majority of people have successfully quit. 8. G’day Was too build a barn on a mates place this weekend. Not happening ....he lives at the top of the Mary river. Couple of local roads flooded already so with a docs appointment for the wife this arvo have to leave early and go the long way. But that’s just inconvenient really. Dams are under 50 per cent. This will fill them for sure.

  9. No. Even when I would smoke anything, I would never have smoked a salmon. I suppose you'd have to dry it, crumble it up and some how put it in a cigarette paper. Ugh, no, it would be horrible. No nicotine though. No one worries.

  14. Thanks for checking in @Old Man Coffee, with your fabulous news. Glad anxiety has lessened due to work stress going down, some of this may be due to your work situ but, also due to the anxiety involved with addiction that you have kicked to the curb. I hope if work stress increases you will not be taking so much of the anxiety on anymore, having learned new ways to deal with stress by quitting smoking. Like breathing ! lol. Congratulations on your quit and sober February. The skills and self-confidence acquired in quitting smoking often lead to other life affirming changes. Thank you for sharing your quit with us. S

  16. I ask the same. The man is a complete jerk IMO. I've read a little about him so I can't muster much sympathy for him because of his views.

  18. I wish Mr. Limbaugh good fortune though I regret this will, most likely, only be a wish. The casualty statistics of smoking are as pitiless as they are remorseless. Of some, small consolation being he has the courage to share his misfortune. His example may yet prove the inspiration for others to quit.

  19. hellkatbaby, he is adorable. Is he a Rottweiler? Fish tanks are a great hobby. There is one at my doctors' office and I find it to be so relaxing. My son is also into them and actually grows the plants to sell. Be prepared, that hair may come in curly. My friend had that happen after treatments. I am so glad to hear you are doing so well. It is amazing the new medical treatments they have. You are doing so great. Stay strong and keep healing.

  26. I found it's imperative to have a solid reason for why you want to be a non-smoker. During the quit process, that reason will be tested and you will need to draw strength from it. In your above statement, you listed two reasons. Which one is the true reason for you wanting to be a non-smoker? 1) It's a palindrome date 2) I don't want to die You're going to have to dig deep and make that reason very honest and from the core of you because it WILL become your lifeline from time to time.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
