  4. With the lovely Saz hosting your 6 year woohoo @reciprocity thought it was best to keep me out of harms way by having me organise the entertainment, I am pretty sure after extensive research I have nailed it: Congratulations on 6 fantastic years of freedom and for sharing the journey and your humour with us all, even if you do like to insult my national footwear . Seriously though your posts have been inspirational to many of those travelling the road behind you and you did invent the most addictive crave beater on the quit train, for the CoS alone you need a gold star.

  8. Isn't it funny how the nicotine fogs your self image and makes you feel not worthwhile... it was a great surprise blessing of saying NOPE each day to realise I had worth.

  9. Good morning fellow NOPErs. Today is one of my favourite days of the whole, entire year and starts my absolute favourite week of the year.. the last Monday is September is Brownlow Medal Count Day.... its the second biggest day in the footy (Aussie Rules) calendar where we get to watch 22 rounds of 3-2-1 votes be counted for a total of 198 games to find out which player was competitions Best & Fairest.... who doesn't like a prize that goes out to the fairest player not just the most talented. They also award best goal, mark. rookie, and there is an award for the player who gives the most back to the community. I fricking love Brownlow night... the kid likes the pre-brownlow red carpet for all the wags in their fancy dresses but pfft, give me the count..... Well lets be honest its the only chance my club has of winning anything worthwhile because even if we make the grandfinal and haven't dropped a game all year we will still loose it (yep another long season as cellar dwellers).. so the hot money is on one of the boys from Hawthorn (yes Doreen I'll post a pic) and the likely outside is one of the Blues but I don't think so, I think the surprise upset might be one of the Melbourne boys.. and we are in with a chance for the winner on numbers being inellegible cos he was naughty and broke someones jaw with his fist..... There were some official days, Cherries Jubilee (blurgh), Punctuation day (like I could ever give that a shout out) ... but this is a purely selfish shout out, which will mean nothing to anyone not in Victoria, oh OK in an AFL state... but bestest day of the whole year, even better than Christmas Day and Granny Day. So.... will I ever win a Charlie, NOPE, did I have a son who could win won... NOPE... do I live with the hope that I will have a Grandson who could win won... hell to the yeah! .. and me little nephew is looking promising, he already plays competition 2 age groups up in U14s (he's 9) .... But he will have to N.O.P.E. to get there, need a lot of lung capacity to run a footy oval for 2 hours.... NOPE ... cos lung capacity needs to be cherished.

  16. Thanks all so much for putting thought and time in your answers. Read everything several times. I am coming along.. and trying to accept what it is right now. Not easy, but I dont have another option. Breath in, breath out. At least I'm proud for being in some strange Spanish village where literally EVERY person smokes, including the people I am with. But not me. It's absurd, being there and missing something to cope with, well... what, life? Holiday, sunny life? No.. I smoked because I had to cope with daily withdrawl symptoms. I have to keep reminding myself and power through. I have to believe you guys when you tell me it will get better. I believe you and I go on. Pfieww. Thanks again.

  21. Once you get the concept of NOPE, the whole process is a lot easier! You just have to understand that there is no circumstance in which one puff is okay.

  26. Apparently the rudeness of the neighbor (see curse it thread) really pissed hubby off. Saturday night after a few beers, hubby comes in with his baseball bat and tells me he's paying back the neighbor tonight and could I wake him up at 3:00am. I'm sure others can do it too but when I'm going to bed if I keep repeating " I will get up at x time" I'm able to. So 3:00am rolls around, I wake up and wake up hubby. He grabs the bat, turns off the security light (kudos to him for remembering that) and goes outside to the trashcans and proceeds to bang as hard as he can on them. Even throws a couple yells out for good measure. He then slams the gate closed, comes in, turns the security light back on, and goes back to bed. This morning our neighbor on the other side comes up to him and asks if he heard all the ruckus last night. I should mention she's a sheriff and has security cameras with speakers. So although she couldn't see him, she could hear him. Of course Paul said no we didn't hear a thing lol

  27. Hmmm...I have never had a cup of coffee, ever! Cigarettes and Coca-Cola were my addictions! About 30 years ago I started cutting down on the Coca-Cola....by switching to Diet Coke. Of course, I had to wean myself off the Coca-Cola because I couldn't stand the taste of Diet Coke....gradually I was able to stop drinking Coca-Cola at all. Then when menopause reared its ugly head i switched to Caffeine free Diet Coke! That took some getting used to.....it affected me physically....tired all the time and very cranky.....sleep disturbances...but it did help with the hot flashes and night sweats (they stopped six months after they started and never returned!). Now I am trying to get off the Diet Coke merry go round....as diet sodas wreak havoc with your body pretty much like nicotine does! I am substituting flavored seltzer and have found a brand that I actually like....something about the bubbles in this brand that I like and they make many different flavors... pomegranate my fave....although I am sure the "natural flavors" will probably be found harmful at some point in the future!

  29. MyLife, thanks for posting. It is hard at times, it does seem like a loss at times. But you have to think about the positives from quitting this last month and hang on to those thoughts to get you through. It does get better and the fight gets easier but fight we have to and the win is a quality life for you -- Keep It Going -- You Can Do This!!!!

  30. My Life, I am a little bit ahead of you on the quit train and I had a bad day yesterday too. I chewed the head off of anything in my path. That darn smoking thought kept popping into my head. Then, I thought I was looking for excuses to run out that door and down to the corner store. I do have this thought that I have now planted into my head and it brings me back to reality. The thought - "I choose life" . I have so much to live for. I have never come this far before. Why would I want to go back. Keep reaching out - we are here.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
