Hello Little Man

Featured Replies

Jackson Blan made his big debut on Monday morning April 18.  The little man made us wait.  Sugar Britches went into labor on Easter and eighteen hours later Mister Jackson decided to make his grand entrance.

The little fella is fit as a fiddle weighing in at 10 pounds, 4 ounces.  He has a good crop of black hair up top with a thin layer on the sides.  He has some of the chubbiest cheeks you've ever seen on a baby; the kind of cheeks you can't resist kissing.  The boy has brown eyes.  We haven't seen much of his eyes as he's a deep sleeper.  Even when Maddie is poking around at him and rubbing his head, the little fella sleeps right through it.  Maddie has taken inventory and "Baby Jack" has eyes, a nose, ears, and so on.  She likes to point these things out so we know everything is in working order.

It has been pointed out by many that Mister Jackson resembles a certain someone that you all know and perhaps even love.  The title "Baby Boo", "Little Boo", and "Mini-Boo" have all been used to describe the young man.  My sister-in-law laughed at the fact that he even has the same haircut as me as I keep it short on the sides.  My mom brought in some photos of me when I was a newborn, the resemblance was impossible to miss.  When I say "That's my boy!", there will be no dispute.

Jackson is only a few hours shy of turning three days-old, so it might be premature to give a breakdown of his personality.  However, as newborns go, the little man is calm and cool.  There has been a bit of crying, but typically if the boy gets something to eat he'll chow down and go right to sleep.  He got a little fussy on the table at the hospital when the nurses were giving him his first bath.  Then one of the nurses rubbed his back with a warm washcloth and he stopped crying and made a little "oooh" noise.  The nurses all laughed, one said "I think he likes that."  The boy just got here and he's already charming the ladies; this young fella is one to keep an eye on.

Sugar Britches is doing well, thoroughly exhausted, but recovering nicely.  The labor process and giving birth to a bouncing baby boy certainly pushed her to the limit, but the first time she held that little man in her arms there were no regrets.  Sugar Britches is a champ.

Maddie is adapting to the big sister role quickly.  We had some questions about how she would respond to another little one and she's just rolling with it.  She didn't particularly care for her first visit to the hospital and seeing her mother in bed with a lot of tubes and various things attached to her, that scene was a bit much for her to handle.  However, when she can get some one-on-one time with Jackson she talks to him, and talks, and talks some more.  Maddie has twenty-two months of experience under her belt, she is doing her best to let baby brother in on all the things he needs to know.

It is almost one in the morning local time, but before I hang it up for the evening I am going to count my blessings.  I'm not sure if I deserve the family I have, but I am thankful beyond words for them.

Congratulations Boo family! I’m so thankful that Labor & Delivery went well and that such a fine example of ‘Boomanship’ has been brought forth! 🤗

Congratulations Boo, I'm glad to hear that baby Jackson and Mom are healthy after the delivery. There is no greater joy than raising a child. It's also nice to see Maddie has instinctively taken over her big sister duties. You are truly blessed.

I stopped counting wins and losses a long time ago.  I'm like the Washington Generals to Sugar Britches' Harlem Globetrotters.

Congratulations to the growing family Boo, particularly to Maddie for her promotion ? to big sister!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can just look at both those threads, @notsmokinjo updated them with the winners. @intoxicated yoda won the weight and I was closest to the day so I win that one :)

Congratulations Boo.  So happy Jackson and your family are doing great.  Awesome news!

If I had to describe Jackson in one word, it would be "chill."

The little man sleeps, eats, and poops; he's already developing a schedule that you can set your watch to.  By newborn standards, the boy rarely cries.  If he does cry it's typically because his stomach is a little uncomfortable, nothing that a good belch and/or fart won't remedy.  He was a little fussy earlier today so I put him on my shoulder and patted his back.  He let loose with a big burp and made a little "aah" noise afterward.  After that, it was right back to sleep for the little man.

Our man Jackson is calm, cool, and collected.

Ah lovely to have a contented baby, long may it continue.

My nephew was that way too @Boo, so chill that he didn't learn to tie his own shoes until his five year old younger sister learned to tie hers. He was eight by then lol😂
