Relieved that this storm, so far, has been minimal here in NOLA and hasn't been a catastrophe anywhere. No loss of life. May have residual showers tonight but, nothing extreme. Going to sleep, storm preparations and storm watching is exhausting. I'm going to take one of @WeegieWoman's Duvet Days tomorrow once I get all the shutters opened. Thank y'all for your all your good thoughts, I really mean that. It is really comforting to know y'all are keeping me safe in your thoughts. May need them again, the season is just starting. ugh. but, for now all is fine and dandy. s6 points

I was going thorough some stuff I gathered together at my mother's house when I was there last month. She was tossing stuff out and I wanted to make sure there were no personal documents that should be shredded. Here's an interesting item. A Young Ladies Journal from September 1887. That's over 130 years ago! It's in pretty rough shape because the paper is starting to disintegrate. My mother says her mother gave it to her when she was just a kid. Somehow she kept it around until now It's got some fashion of the day pages for ladies and kids. And of course some advertising pages to pay for the publication costs: Hey! When was the last time you ladies went bustle shopping? Tell the kid you're taking her bustle shopping @notsmokinjo . That'll be an "Ah Mom!" moment - lol. Really shows just how much the world has changed in such a relatively short period of time. The invention of the telephone was only 11 years before this publication date! I guess there was no "on-line" shopping?4 points

Hi Diane and welcome, Everyone must find what works for them. With that being said: I would reach into my goody bag and use whatever forms I had to ease the withdrawal !!!! I mean whatever!!!!! My motto is Do anything, any way, any how NOT TO TAKE ANOTHER PUFF!!! And then I would celebrate OFTEN!!!! every half hour(lol) or hour!!!! seriously. I was making some life changing choices and I meant business!!! I Can not let anything, or anyone get in the middle of my FREEDOM !!!! Hang in there Ms. Diane, read alot on here and stay close. YOU CAN do this3 points

Actually you can now stay on Chantix up to six months but I don’t plan on taking it that long. If I didn’t think I needed it I wouldn’t be on it. What works for some doesn’t work for others. If you can do it cold turkey that’s wonderful. I know I can’t I need a little help.3 points

Oh Reci thanks for sharing those pages. That's such a great save. Think of all the history that book has been around for. Saddly I could tell the kid we were going shopping for barbed wire and she'd be excited....I'm sure that word shopping has bells and whistles going off in her head...she is so not my kid at times...as for explaining history....here's a fun activity try and explain fax machines to a thirteen year old and her friends...they thought I was making it up so they googled it.2 points

I wish I could just put them down. I’ve been a smoker for 40 plus years. Quitting is one of the hardest things to do and staying quit is even hard. I also live with a smoker. This makes it much harder. He is the one that could just put them down. He can come home and not smoke all weekend. I wish! Hope everyone has a great day.2 points

Despite my experience I'm not against Champix (what it's called down here) and I'm sorry if I gave that impression ... I know too many successful ex smokers who used Champix for it not to be worth trying if cold turkey is not for you. It's not like I didn't have an NRT crutch at the start of my quit. If it gets you over the line to freedom they go for it...I'm with you 100% of the way.2 points

I’m not having to many dreams I’ve had 1 or 2 there where funny dreams. No nightmares. And I do know I can’t smoke again. I’m addicted to nicotine. But the Chantix as allowed me to not care so much about smoking. I light 1 and don’t really want it. Everyone must find what works for them. If I could do it on mine own I would have by now. It’s not convenient to be a smoker.2 points
