  3. Hi Guys, I completed 15 days without cigarettes, and 3 days off the patch. I got the side effect of little ulcers in my mouth, so it hurts to eat. Pretty sure my mouth will feel better tomorrow. I went hiking today, and it was horrible, and I'm so mad at myself for having done all this damage to my lungs and heart. I have the impulse to warn kids...I wish there would be an abrupt end to kids trying cigarettes! But happy day, I'm off nicotine!! yahoooo!

For the short time I have been here i have noticed that this is a very well ran and organized forum. This is a direct reflection of the Moderators and Adminastraightors. Thank you for the quality job you all are doing !
  5. Quitting is serious business and not often a walk in the park in the beginning. You must 'Embrace The Suck' as our friend, The Sarge, says and hold tight to your resolve. Your commitment to yourself is fundamental as is understanding the addiction. The rewards are innumerable and you will never regret quitting you will only regret not quitting sooner.
  6. Nope. Smoking is not an option.
  7. NOPE! Smoking sucks!

  13. Thanks all! 11 years still smoke free. Was thinking about all the money we have saved, by quitting. It occurred to me that our quits are priceless. You can't buy one, with any amount of money, for yourself or anyone else... KTQ! Markus
  14. An interesting exchange of ideas and a fairly civil discourse I might add. I feel for the relapse and am glad for anyone back on the wagon (Train). The mechanics of NOPE are flawless and living it assures perfection, and a forever quit. There are other ways that lead to the same end, and having seen those struggles and final successes over the years prove that these alternative paths are effective as well. But in the end it's all about staying quit isn't it, pledging and doing or living the NOPE? After all of the hyperbole, no matter how you choose to get there you will never achieve freedom from addiction to nicotine by delivering more nicotine into your system. The Law of Addiction paraphrased I suppose. KTQ Markus Quit 2-18-2008

    I'll second that
  16. We can't go back in time and change our past ignorance to the effects smoking was having on our future health but use this realization to help inspire yourself on those tough days you will have in the early part of your quit. You CAN still change your future for the better. Make that your focus point
  17. Never give up giving up....because eventually you will get your sticky quit....but you have to try.. if at first you don't succeed, try and try again...learn from each attempt, take away the he positives...focus on those.
  18. I agree relapsing is not a crime. It is a big deal, Not a crime. It is an alarm to let you know it is time to re-evaluate. Re-evaluate your reasons for quitting. Re-evaluate your readiness to quit. Re-evaluate your real knowledge of your addiction. Re-evaluate the relapse. Toss the pack, take a shower, brush your teeth and Restart your quit STAT.
  19. Hope you have a great 60th birthday
  20. Welcome, Icanhike! It sounds to me from your post and follow-up comments that you have an amazing attitude, which is a BIG key to a successful quit! Kudos!
  21. Sarge sucked on an empty E-Cig for a good 3 weeks. Shaped like a cigarette. Looked like a cigarette. Gave him something to put in his hands and suck on like a cigarette ... but just sucking air. Sarge's Pops tried quitting with E-Cigs and it still hasn't worked for Pops Sarge to this day ... but the empty sucking of air really worked in those first few weeks for Sarge himself. EZPZ

  23. I think I just Poopped !
  24. Oh dear, Frez. Spring will come. A hot bath ? A day at a spa ? Something luxurious for a moment ?
  25. No, relapsing is not a crime. If that were the case, there's a few here that would be on death row in San Quentin by now for the number of relapses.
