Welcome to another fun packed week of life, smoke free, happy and hardy. The week goes to the Birtski's who are celebrating their doughnut appreciation week (although it may just be the Scots). We have a few choices in Aus but family week gets my nod, recent events have reminded me how important family is so that's the one. Finally, the every entertaining American's give us the Dance Like A Chicken Day... why??, well why not. So buts a move and get your groove on as we all do the chicken dance together .... yeah-nah, no chicken dancing for me but I will say NOPE because nothing rules my life but me! We have several quitters here on the Train who are in the earlier stages of the quit. Godspeed newbies. I'm noticing some recurring themes and thought I would put in my two-cents. Quitting is simple if you don't complicate it. Quitting doesn't demand that you do anything. You're simply refraining from doing something you used to do. It makes no demands on your time and it's free. Don't stick a cigarette in your mouth and light it on fire. One-step and done. "I quit, but I still want to smoke." Of course you do, particularly in the early days. Old habits alone are hard enough to break. Throw addiction in the mix and now you've got yourself a situation that is going to want to hang on for a while. Be patient with the process and cut yourself some slack. If you wanted to smoke but didn't...congratulations, that's how you build a quit. "I want to get to that place of freedom." Look around; are you sure you're not already there? You used to smoke and now you don't. That's freedom. Some are celebrating making it through their first week others are commemorating five years. Just because someone started their journey before you doesn't mean you're not on the same trail. You've done a great thing for yourself, you quit smoking. You are already right where you need to be. Congratulations newbies. You've committed to a process that will reward you many times over. Take pride and enjoy the ride.5 points

I think you are onto something in my case Doreen. For me, a crave starts out as a thought. That thought can either grow into a crave, disspate into nothingness, or teach me something. As long as i am diligent and present, I am in control of what the thought evolves into.3 points

(( GITW )) you have embraced your quit & speak with confidence & truth. I'm proud of you! Continue to improve yourself (uni) as you are able & never forget you have a whole lot of life to live; perhaps at a slower pace but, still it is there for the taking!3 points

I do not believe there is a correlation between cleaning and smoking. My room mate has never done either one in her entire life.2 points

G -- Awesome post and it does place everything in the right perspective. We really do have to look to the future. I have 44 years of smoking and know that I have health issues but I cannot dwell on that ---- I have to think of how I am helping myself now and realize that whatever is ahead is better that what would have been if not for the Quit -- Thanks for sharing your thoughts2 points
