I will keep it brief... If you are looking to lose weight, nutrition must be your primary focus. Exercise is a part of the equation, but there is no way to exercise enough to overcome a bad nutrition plan with the goal of losing weight. Track the food you eat. It is boring and tedious. It is also necessary. Everyone thinks they know roughly how many calories they consume on an average day. Most people underestimate how many calories they actually consume. Incorporate strength training into your exercise routine. Strength training is far more effective at positively affecting body composition than hours of mindlessly trudging away on a treadmill. Exercise is not just something you do at the gym for a few hours per week. Find ways to be more active throughout the day. We're not going for intensity here. We're simply going for consistency of movement. Don't obsess about numbers on a scale. Focus on making lifestyle changes instead.5 points

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I craved hot dogs! I thought for sure she was going to be a boy. With my son I craved barbecue chicken. The first three months I could not eat much of anything because I had terrible morning sickness.3 points

Thanks for all your feedback everyone, I do not disagree with anything you are saying. Yes, I know that I am addicted to nicotine right now. But I also observed that people do become free if they follow an NRT program. I am taking a harm reduction approch to getting rid of nicotine. My goal at this point is to be off nicotine totally in six weeks. I am following the patch step down program. Many thanks for your support. KTQ Gene2 points

This joint was right down the road from the old four square farmhouse we were staying at. I love the young small artichokes, no choke ! The produce out west is sublime.2 points

to: QTrain re: first days nicotine Free In your First Few Days, while the Nicotine left your body, what helped you ? For me, it was Sleep (assisted with over the counter sleep medication or whisky). Ice Water. Satsumas, Citrus. Deep, deep breaths. Long 'singing' showers. (If I had known about y'all, I guarantee I would have been here) Edited to avoid controversy as to method of quitting smoking. I just want to know what helped you while nicotine left your body.1 point

And by "celebrated" I mean I basically said "Huh, it's been three years since I quit smoking. Weird. Doesn't seem like it" and then continued to go about my day. It really does feel like I never smoked at all. It's such a distant memory anymore. Of course, I'm well aware that just one would send me back to smoking a pack a day within a week, but I'm not concerned about that. I don't crave them. Ever. For those of you struggling with a new (or old) quit, stick with it. If I can quit after 30 years, anyone can. I promise it'll be worth it! NOPE!1 point
