**** it.  I don't care if you cuss, especially in this forum.  Just a little tact on the main boards though.  Again, **** it.

And while we are ranting about stuff, I woke up in the middle of the night a few days ago with excruciating abdominal pain. I immediately knew what was happening. I have yet another flare up of Diverticulitis. I spent 3 1/2 hours in the ER yesterday, had a CT scan, which confirmed what I already knew, was given pain meds, and  got scrips for antibiotics and Norco. I lied to them about having a ride home, drove home and have been in bed ever since. So now I have to really consider getting surgery, so this stops happening. Damn! Going to the ER during Covid is weird. I was in a chair the whole time, when I really wanted to lie down. So the lady next to me ( literally only a foot away) may have had Covid, and was NOT masked! WTF! So, it’s just liquids for me, so far. John went to the store to get me Gatorade and juices. He’s been very sweet.

So sorry you are going through this @Katgirl! Diverticulitis is miserable. I hope you start to feel better soon. Take good care.

Two months ago, my 89-year-old mother was swimming 6 days a week, leading a book club, writing her memoirs, helping her grandkids with their homework, and generally being the boss of everything. Today she is unable to walk. She can no longer comprehend complex sentences, hold a cup of water without dropping it, or dial a phone number. She’s in the hospital with seven staples in her skull due to a fall. We are trying to get a handle on the underlying medical issues, but damn… it all happened so fast, like an avalanche. I wasn’t ready for this yet. But here it is. F**k.

I'm so sorry @DenaliBlues, hopefully they get to the bottom of why this is going on. My mom used to get UTI's and would have several of the same symptoms so maybe you could ask them to check for that? Surprisingly they didn't check for that with my mom unless we specifically asked and sure enough that's what it was.

I'm sending healing thoughts to your mom...

How sad for her and all of you.  I sure hope that they figure out what is going on @DenaliBlues. The severity of the decline in such a short period of time is shocking and I know it is all the more so for you and especially for her. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear about your Mom. I agree with @jillar. UTIs can make older folks’ mental status decline in a hurry. I would hope the Docs would clue in, though. None of us are ready to see our parents in failing health. It’s a scenario I think about, in the future, as I age. I hate the thought of how it will affect my kids and many grandchildren. Unfortunately,  it’s an inevitable part of life. You are lucky you still have your Mom. Mine passed at 62. I have already outlived her, by almost 10 years. I do hope things turn around, for your Mom.

Well, it’s over. After a short but excruciating battle, my mother has passed on. My yearning to smoke is crazy strong right now. My inner voice is shouting, “F**k it.” Mom never smoked, never drank, worked out 6 days a week, did everything right for her health and STILL died in awful pain from stenosis and advanced cancer. So why should I bother to quit?

But I know intellectually that picking up again wouldn’t fix anything. Also, quitting smoking allowed me to be with her at the very end. I had gone home to sleep for a couple of hours, and she left this world minutes after I returned to the hospital. If I were still smoking - if I had stopped on my way back inside to have a cigarette, as I always would have before - I would have missed her final moments. So I’m grateful for that, at least. Memory eternal, Mom.

@DenaliBlues So sorry for the loss of your mom.

My thoughts and prayers for you. Your so right smoking

won't change a thing.

The right words are never there, I'm not sure they exist.

Condolences and strength to you and your family Denali.

The ones that mean the most never truly leave us, they live on through us.

I am so sorry for your loss.  It is going to be hard dealing with the grief you feel.  Just try to take it a day at a time.  Be kind to yourself!!
