September 1, 20215 yr It wasn't a money issue @Katgirl, I just didn't want to invest or buy anything until I made sure I would like it. Its pretty cool but its kinda wide for my hand. My flip phone fit much easier. So when I was offered a free phone to upgrade I figured it was a good time to check it out 😊
September 1, 20215 yr I agree, iphone is more intuitive. You do need a bit of getting used to on the android. @jillar, doesn't your phone tell you to swipe up? Mine does.
September 1, 20215 yr @d2e8b8, no it doesn't and I didn't think to watch the tutorial on how to answer a frucking smartphone 😂 There was just a green phone on one side and a red on the other.....taunting me.....😂😂

September 1, 20215 yr Jillar, I feel for you!! I recently got a little flip phone (tracphone) for emergencies. Got home tried to get it step up and could not even do that, I got this so called simple phone and guess what it is not so simple. I did not feel I needed a smartphone because I don't have people that would be calling or texting. I just wanted to be able to call for help if I was out and about or if the phone at home (landline) was down. I have not had the energy to deal with the problem yet. I will just go to the neighbors if I need help. I have had this happen before and they called 911 for me. We all need the availability to call someone if we need help. Just take your time to get used to the new phone. Ask friends and family how to navigate. I asked my son to help me but even he did not know because all he knows is a smart phone. From the get go you have known that I am not tech driven and have been so helpful. I will get if figured out eventually. K

I was forced to become so, in the early 90’s, when PC’s were becoming popular. I actually hired a guy to build us our first PC. I did this, because I had kids who needed it for their education. Ian and I still talk about our computer guy, Bill. I was forced to become tech savvy, so I would know what to choose, spec wise. I haven’t had a flip phone in years. As soon as smart phones came out, I got one. By that time, Ian was helping me figure out what to get, and how to use it. As it turned out, he is an Android guy, and I’m an IOS fan. Sometimes, having kids forces you to keep up with the ever changing world.😊 Edited September 1, 20215 yr by Katgirl
September 1, 20215 yr I may have to give in but don't want to because I really don't need it. May be hard to believe but in my so called former life I worked in the printing industry. Could use illustrator and produce ready files for printing and promotional products. My time was always on the computer learning and doing my job but at the same time taking care of my husband (terminal cancer) and getting the kid through high school and all of his activities. I never did facebook and the flip phone was the only thing I needed at the time. I am way behind now and can't seem to catch up. K
September 1, 20215 yr Don't worry to much K.... Tecky is not to everyone ....As long as I get by ...I'm ok with that .... I just need a phone to talk to folks ....yes sometimes I feel like a dinasaur.,but I move on ...lol....
September 1, 20215 yr Well, to each his own . I’m one of those people who always has the latest greatest thing. I get a new car every other year, too. It costs a lot to be me. I also collect fairly expensive wrist watches. Just got a new one delivered yesterday. So, don’t follow my example. I’m nuts! 😂😂
September 1, 20215 yr I've never been one to have to "keep up with the Jones's" as evidenced by my newly retired flip phone 😂😂
September 1, 20215 yr @Katgirl Yes we are all different and make choices that fit our life. I feel blessed that I have options. I did not come from a wealthy family but I never felt deprived. I guess for me the simple life keeps me from having to worry about anything. I don't need the new car because I really don't go anywhere. If the need arises I just rent a car. The house is paid off, I can go do or buy anything I want, I just find I don't need much to be comfortable. Most of my expenses this last year were medical and vet bills for the dogs. I hope when I leave this world I will have enough to get my grandchildren through college (I only have one right now) plus funds so my son and his wife might be able to retire early. K
September 1, 20215 yr @jillar we must have been posting at the same time, I don't have to keep with Jones because I don't know any Jones. I know a lot of people who think are they are the Jones and they are not happy, relaxed or grateful for what they have. I feel bad for them to work so hard for "stuff" instead of enjoying the fruits of their labor. I guess when my husband got sick there was only one thing I wanted and needed and there was no way I would have it. I just let everything go stuff wise. K

September 2, 20215 yr @Katgirl I did not mean to offend with my post. I also like what I like, when I was younger loved shoes, shoes shoes. Now that I am older my feet do not like the shoes so much and I have moved onto excellent mattresses, really nice sheets and bedding and throws. I spend a lot of time in bed with the migraines. I also like a really nice comfortable leather sofa. I spend a lot of time there and the dogs can be up with me because their nails don't scratch or put holes in it like with a fabric sofa. I am home all the time and like to feel comfortable. You should be happy and proud that you have a wonderful man in your life. Someone to travel with, go out to dinner and movies, even just snuggle up and watch TV. Would I like that, yes, but I can't have it. Even though my husband has passed I still love him and can't imagine a world with anyone else. K

September 2, 20215 yr @Katgirl It will be 11 years this December, we met at 15, engaged at 18 and married at 20. He is the only boy/man I have ever known. Others came around after he passed but I knew what they were after, a widow with money and a woman who always took care of her husband. I know it sounds crazy but we did not work this hard for anyone but each other and our son. I have other ladies that I know that have been taken advantage of during their grief. I was and am not going to let that happen. Everything we did will be passed to our son. Some people would say it is crazy to be alone but I just will not be able to trust in anyone, At this point I am good, don't mind having friends to do dinner etc. but nothing more. K
September 2, 20215 yr @Kris, I thought it had been awhile. 11 years is a long time. You should trust in your own judgement more. No one says you have to remarry, or allow anyone to take advantage of you. But, why decide to spend the rest of your life alone? I was married to a wonderful man the second time. When he suddenly passed away, I was devastated. I grieved for a year, before dating, again. It was the fact that our relationship was so wonderful, that gave me the desire and courage to look for love again. And, I did find that same magic, for a second time. My husband is gone, and never coming back. He died, and I am still alive, so choose to live the fullest life I can. YOU could do the same, rather than retiring into widowhood. Do you honestly think that both your husband and son would prefer you remained alone and lonely? I doubt it. Edited September 2, 20215 yr by Katgirl
September 2, 20215 yr @Katgirl You are so kind! When my husband was sick (for 5 years) I always said there would not be anyone else that could hold my heart. I watched a neighbor who also lost her husband to cancer before me. She married a man that turned right away, wanted access to all her accounts etc...She knew that did not make sense as he had portrayed himself to be well off. He became combative over the fact she would not allow him this information. She realized she made a mistake and asked him to leave. Last I knew they are still legally married. She is afraid is she files for divorce he could try to take half of everything she has. I am also just tired, I don't have the energy to try and have a relationship with anyone. I have spent so much time being a caregiver. After my husband passed, my Mom became ill to the point I brought her to live with me. I was back caregiving again. Doctors, cooking, bathing, dressing and everything she needed. I finally had to place her in care because I could not keep here safe at home. She got dementia and could not remember where she was and I was there. Getting up and falling, breaking bones and having brain bleeds. As soon as I got here placed, dearest family friend to my husband and me had to have a below the knee amputation due to diabetes. He had 2 brothers that he had no relationship with him for 35 years. I brought him home with me to recover. Again back in caregiver mode. He did well here lost weight, got diabetes in control, had the lowest A1C since he developed diabetes. He was well enough to go home. I should have kept him here, when he got home he did not do well and lost him April 2020 from heart attack. Again, I am just tired, I do not have anything left to give anyone anything. I just want peace and quiet. If I want I can just have bowl of cereal for dinner. If I want to cook it can be my choice. If I feel bad I can take a nap. I am in control for once without thinking I have to do this and this to take care of others. I have only me and the dogs, not gonna lie, I prefer it this way. I am happy for you, you have found a real gem in a world full of rocks. I just don't have the energy to pan for gold. K
October 2, 20214 yr My poor dog has been sick with pancreatitis for almost two weeks now. Not eating and I've tried everything. The vet wants no people food at all, no dry food. Special diet canned food. Had her on chicken and rice but she barely ate that too. She's 15 now which is ironic because I had her at 17 when she had her yearly check up and she was doing great just a month and a half ago. Now I look up her original papers and see she's only around 15 and she's sick 😢
October 2, 20214 yr @jillar So sorry your dog is not doing good. Hope she gets feeling better. I know how important are pets are!!🤗🤗
October 2, 20214 yr 24 minutes ago, jillar said: She's 15 now Fifteen is a long life for most dogs. Our first dog had problems with pancreatitis. I found a Science diet that worked but don't remember which one. They even had treats that she could take. Healing thoughts for your baby.
October 2, 20214 yr @jillar My heart just breaks for you. It is horrible when our furbabies get sick. Sometimes we have to make a decision at some point if they are suffering and need to make the right decision but not a decision we want to make. There is nothing harder, I have had to make this decision for the dog of my lifetime (and believe me I have had lots of dogs) You have to evaluate if your baby is suffering. If they are fine with the special food and they are not in any pain I would be fine with that and the extra expense. Will your baby require special drugs like insulin? My special baby got really sick, starting bleeding internally. I chose surgery and they found it was his spleen and removed it. They said his pancreas look very angry. After a few days the bleeding started again. They said they could remove it, that he might make it but would require special food and he would have to take insulin. I discussed this with my sister (also a dog lover). It was time to let him go, I could not keep making him suffer through all of that. To give you an idea how special he was, I got him to keep my husband calm and comfortable through cancer treatment. I had to make the same decisions for my husband. I made many selfish decisions with my love, I was not going to make anyone suffer again K
October 3, 20214 yr Sorry to hear your doggie is ill, @jillar. That’s tough. They are like our kids. I have a cute Cockapoo named Barney. I got him right after I lost my husband, 7 years ago. Some Friends thought it was a mistake. They were so wrong. He brings me much joy. I hope your pup gets better.
October 8, 20214 yr I don't care much for dealing with banks. Pulled up to the drive thru window this morning to make a deposit in my account. Then I explained to the lady that I still have not received a new ATM card and mine expired at the start of the month. She said: "Sir, you'll have to take care of that inside" in the bitchiest manner possible. I explained: "I used to do all of my banking inside, but y'all shut the lobby down because of Covid." "You'll have to make an appointment" she said in a manner that left me trying to figure out if I dated this woman at some point in the past. Her hostility level towards me had a distinctly angry ex feel to it. F**k it! A fireproof safe and some Mason jars strategically buried in the backyard is looking like a more feasible option for my money everyday.
