  1. 3 months today Still hanging on there despite some touchy situations that normally would have me reaching for a cigarette. I do believe today that there isn't just one cigarette, or puff even, and in very short order I would be back to my usual smoking behaviour if I believe the lie that I can "just have one". My apologies if I don't post here to often. There are folks here who do a far better job of sharing their experience and hope than I could just at this moment. I will though keep posting when I can and especially when I hit a target date if only to demonstrate to anyone who is struggling that if I can do it so can they . Many many thanks for all your support and kind words.

  4. Nice work Midmale. Sorting through the lies we told ourselves and accepting the truths we didn't necessarily want to hear is a major part of the process. Congratulations. You are building a rock-solid quit for yourself.

  12. HI! Please don't think that Chantix is your last chance at quitting. As long as you are still breathing you have a chance of quitting. I'm on my seventh quit this year and I'm not about to quit trying. Who knows, we might make it at some point! Don't give up on it! Take Care and Cheer Up!

  13. Congratulations on stopping smoking, Matthew! Definitely stay away from the drink if it makes you crave. I did early on. You know how alcohol ruins most people's good intentions. Not worth it! You're almost done with hell week, Matthew. Great going!

  17. Does it sound bad if I really want to be the one to fire her out of spite?

  18. No, I wouldn't pay for it! I found a link to it. Read it 3 times. From everything I'd heard about it, I thought I had missed something. Don't get me wrong, it's a good read for some extra motivation. He makes some very good points. But there is no magic trick there, you still have to quit for yourself by a comment made to yourself. Good Luck! I hope your quit is still going well!

  21. Made it to N.B. Now in self quarantine for 14 days per their entry requirements. No problem, lots of sorting and packing to do here and we brought a lot of dry/caned goods. Travel through Quebec was like a ghost town. Nobody around and really hard to find food as all restaurants & bars closed and not even doing take out or delivery. Finally found one fast food drive thu open so that was our only meal. They even closed all the Mc-D's cuz too many had positive tested employees We were pretty careful, with limited contacts and just stayed in a hotel and saw no one other than the receptionist so we will know in the next week or so if we're OK.

  23. I'm a little obsessed with Sturgill Simpson's new bluegrass album right now. Even though I'm more bothered than I should be by that album cover...the deck on that mower is backwards.

  25. @Linda, you're giving smoking too much power. As soon as you take the power back you will succeed. And I hope that the Chantix works great for you just as it has for others. Don't worry about how long everyone took it but instead try to focus on changing your patterns. Don't ever feel ashamed to post. You may get some tough love but it's only because we care and don't want to see you have to go through the worse part of quitting over and over again

  28. Very sound advice..ty reciprocity and I do intend on making this forum part of my recovery/quit. I have already learnt so much from the wisdom and knowledge here, its allowed me to see my addiction from a different angle and other areas of my life also. It occured to me yesterday that for over 50 years I've had a stimulant or a sedative inside my body...its quite interesting to find out how my body now copes without any sort of crutch...so far so good anyway

  29. Sorry Mick. Some of our members use quite the tawdry language because they're so passionate about quitting. Ooops! I said "members". Moderators, please move this to the "Curse Thread". But seriously, good job Mick. Keep that great quit going.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
