3 months today Still hanging on there despite some touchy situations that normally would have me reaching for a cigarette. I do believe today that there isn't just one cigarette, or puff even, and in very short order I would be back to my usual smoking behaviour if I believe the lie that I can "just have one". My apologies if I don't post here to often. There are folks here who do a far better job of sharing their experience and hope than I could just at this moment. I will though keep posting when I can and especially when I hit a target date if only to demonstrate to anyone who is struggling that if I can do it so can they . Many many thanks for all your support and kind words.7 points

Nice work Midmale. Sorting through the lies we told ourselves and accepting the truths we didn't necessarily want to hear is a major part of the process. Congratulations. You are building a rock-solid quit for yourself.4 points

HI! Please don't think that Chantix is your last chance at quitting. As long as you are still breathing you have a chance of quitting. I'm on my seventh quit this year and I'm not about to quit trying. Who knows, we might make it at some point! Don't give up on it! Take Care and Cheer Up!3 points

Congratulations on stopping smoking, Matthew! Definitely stay away from the drink if it makes you crave. I did early on. You know how alcohol ruins most people's good intentions. Not worth it! You're almost done with hell week, Matthew. Great going!2 points

We call Quitting ...A journey......there are alot of twists and turns along the way .... Try and turn all your negative feelings into positives ones ....it's all about getting it right in your head .. Eg...I miss Smoking !!!..negative .............I love being smoke free and healing all the damage done !!...positive. After all....What are you stopping doing ????? Killing your self very slowly ...your not even noticing .......until it's too late .... Upwards and Onwards .....2 points

Does it sound bad if I really want to be the one to fire her out of spite?2 points

No, I wouldn't pay for it! I found a link to it. Read it 3 times. From everything I'd heard about it, I thought I had missed something. Don't get me wrong, it's a good read for some extra motivation. He makes some very good points. But there is no magic trick there, you still have to quit for yourself by a comment made to yourself. Good Luck! I hope your quit is still going well!2 points

Seems like it gets harder not easier. I hate to even post because I'm ashamed Iam having such a hard time This was me on my last quit. It just kept getting harder and harder. There was nothing easy about it. I know that feeling well. That’s why I started quitting with Chantix this time. I knew that I needed help in a bigger way and came across someone who quit using Chantix. I picked his brain; he was so patient! One day at a time. That’s all.1 point

Yes she is. I still amazed at all the people here in the group that have become non smokers. This chantix is my last chance to do it. Seems like it gets harder not easier. I hate to even post because I'm ashamed I am having such a hard time1 point

Hi Mee! Yes, Lindas are special. I’m really a Chris. Lol. You brought a tear to my eye, darlin’. Everything makes me cry since I quit smoking. Thanks for the encouragement! Big hugs to you!1 point

Oona, I am actually a Linda too. Lindas are special . Seriously, you are doing great. I promise you that you will get stronger. When I first quit, I would breath deep, close my eyes and try to picture my body healing. Keep focused ahead and don't look back. Yes the support here is important. I actually don't feel I would have ever quit, without them They guided me and carried me to that finish line. Be proud of yourself and always reach out when it gets tough.1 point

Hi Linda! I took Chantix for a week before I quit cold turkey. I knew from prior quits that I’m not capable of just smoking less. It wasn’t an option for me. I plan on taking it for the full 3 months. My doctor is thinking about extending it for an additional 3 months if I need it...but no more than that...only because I’ve been smoking for so long with so many unsuccessful quits. It’s the cravings that get me into trouble. Every. Time. Chantix helps with the cravings but doesn’t take them away; you will still need to fight them. I think it will be easier for you in the long run to quit completely. Pick a date and try to be healthy and strong before it comes. How are you doing with the two pills a day? I get nauseous. Yay! Maybe I won’t gain so much weight. Lol. I can’t sleep but that’s ok... until I have to pay attention. I don’t get the wild dreams that are a common side effect...damn. That’s the one I was hoping for. Figures. Let’s see, I quit on 8/27/2020, so I started Chantix one week prior to that. I filled the prescription about 3 weeks before I started. I had to look at it every day and build up to actually starting the prescription. Crazy, isn’t it?! I’ve found that a tiny bit of marijuana (edibles) can help with the nausea and anxiety. I’m a little afraid to put that out for the whole site to see because I’m a newbie and don’t know if rules apply...but it’s true for me. I’m in California and have a medical card. My doctor knows. I told her before I started this journey. Did I answer your question properly? If I can do this, you can do this. I’m cheering for you!1 point

I would pass on any alcohol until you're far enough into your quit that life is no longer a trigger for you. It may seem like triggers to smoke will always be a larger factor but they won't.1 point

Don't be too hard on yourself Mick, there are lots of ups and downs. Six weeks in is wonderful, but your quit is quite young. Keep reading about the addiction, education is key on this journey. Staying positive is very important to your mental health, so it's great that you are focusing on your attitude. Be gentle with yourself....you got this!1 point
