  6. Hi everyone, I use to be a member on here a few years back and it really helped me. A bit about me: I'm 31 (as of last month), been smoking since i was 15 and the last 8 months I've given up smoking completely and have been vaping. Went to that desperate to stop smoking but all it did was trade one bad habit for an other and make me into a Guinea Pig. Tomorrow is day one of my quit journey. No cigarettes or vapes. I'm quitting cold Turkey as I find that is the best way for me. Glad to see some familiar names around still. See everyone on the NOPE pledge tomorrow and please send me quit smoking vibes. Putting my all into this.

  7. I'd like to know the site consensus as to what constitutes a quit. Is it giving up setting fire to tobacco or is it a total absence of nicotine however it's delivered.

  12. Welcome back Mrs. Guest, yes never quit quitting. You WILL succeed. I'd suggest sticking close this time. When I first quit I found that posting every time I was having a hard time found me surrounded by support from my fellow quitters. I formed such strong bonds with them that I didn't want to let them down and was able to keep my quit. You can too. We will be here to help you every step of the way As far as your ticker, you'll need to delete your current one first. Then create a new one and copy it into your signature

  20. I would say that once you put that last cigarette out for good, you can say that you have quit. The ultimate goal is to be completely nicotine free but if a NRT can help you get to that point, that is great. I quit cold turkey but it took me a number of attempts. If a NRT helps you out in the beginning, that is cool...as long as you work towards becoming completely nicotine free in the end.

  24. So wish I had footage of the joy at the station tonight....from the platform we walk down this ridiculously long ramp at the bottom of said ramp is a chick with a dog on a leash..he's a bitsa (bits a this an bits a that) and looks like he has been through the wars, scars and bald patches... but as every person walks down he's scanning them looking for his people and then he spots him, thought he would rip the chicks arm off trying to get to his bloke...she lets the lead go, the dog bolts for his human who drops his briefcase and catches him in a hug and carries him like he was a kid the rest of the way down the ramp an up the other ramp to their car....so the dog had its paws on his shoulders and his legs sorta around his waste....best sight to end a crappy week to...an the bloke just chatted to him the whole way.

  25. Hi Jessi Welcome back ...take your seat ,that has always been here... You have been given great information ....read all you can educate yourself about this horrible addiction Learn what made you go back and smoke ...something didn't stick in your mind ... Take smoking / vaping off the table ...no matter what ... Expect some discomfort at the beginning while you adjust ..it's all temporary...

  26. Numbers seem unclear on what is being vaped in these cases. There are general comments that seem to indicate the majority of cases involve the vaping of THC or CBD products while others include these plus nicotine products while only some include nicotine products only. When you start looking at vaping of cannabis products, likely bought on the street from a local dealer, who knows for sure what's in it. Certainly not tested and approved by anyone yet all cases involve vaping vs any other delivery system so clearly the vape process plays a role here. It's gonna be very difficult to figure out what the culprit is here with so many potential variables. I agree with @notsmokinjo though. After what the world has gone through with tobacco products over the past 50 years, why not error on the side of caution when something like this comes along. Maybe they fear driving people back to cigarettes if they were to ban vape devices even temporarily?

  29. Never quit quitting, right? So I am back. I tried quitting at the end of last year - succeeded for about 3.5 weeks. Pretty good for me! I quit again yesterday and of course I need a support system so here I am again. You all were great last time! Although I didn't post much, I sure did lurk a lot, lol I don't remember how to change my ticker, so if someone could help me out with that, I'd appreciate it!

  32. Welcome Jessi and as others have already said, stay active here as that will help you along through the early days especially. I too went cold turkey. Seems a lot of us here did. In any case, whatever your method it still comes down to commitment and some hard work to get there but it's very doable

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
