Congrats on a full 3 years quit Andy, star of the Chicks or Sticks struggle I'm happy to have been a part of your quit journey @andyc941. Those that quit before me certainly gave me hope that I too could do it. I hope you do something a little special today to recognize the occasion6 points

I gave myself frequent rewards like a dinner at a nice restaurant or new sneakers. After some time and significant savings I'd go for bigger stuff like a new sofa or new truck. But, by far, the best reward came from my body itself. I went from a tired couch potato to an extremely active hiker and backpacker. Here's a picture of the reward I'm giving myself very soon. Two weeks of backpacking the John Muir Trail.6 points

The good memories and events can be even more of a problem, you have a tendency to let your guard down. Focus and being aware -- so important. At least you are starting the quit again and you seem not to be placing blame, keep strong -- you can do this!!!!4 points

Sarge would suggest you stop looking for an external "cause" to blame It was you that "caused" you to have a smoke. You and only you. You wanted a smoke ... so you had one. Why did you want one? Because you are an addict. Nothing more. Nothing less. You. EZPZ4 points

Reci is right. Always thought I was going to marry my high school sweetheart but he decided to become a sailor in the Navy and dumped me. It was heartbreaking at the time but made it possible to meet my husband who turned out to be Mr. Right. By the way, I met my husband when my first car, a red VW Beetle caught fire and he came to my aid.4 points

I'm going with #3 as the lie. Pretty sure you had a brief, torrid love affair with a guy named Julio before meeting hubby4 points

You have pretty much said it all right there Stevo1. We smoked for all kinds of reasons including when we were feeling good about things going on in our life. You know that yet you didn't recognize what was happening and therefore just went with what your junkie brain was suggesting. You will have to be more vigilant this time around - lesson learned I would hope. Maybe stay closer to this place during your next quit. It can help keep you focused when you're interacting with others who have the same goal as you, becoming and remaining smoke free!4 points

So sorry to hear you relapsed but you are here and ready to quit. When you feel you are going to cave into a crave you should post an SOS. We are here to help you through those tough moments. It really does help to stay close to the forum while you are in you early quit. I found that pledging to NOPE (Not one puff ever), helped solidify my quit.4 points

Ok, Ok .... like Christmas morning, can't wait to unwrap this. Besides we have bigger fish to fry tomorrow You are the winner Jo! # 2 is the lie. I have good vision in both eyes (thankfully). Just need readers for the fine print and that's with both eyes. I used to surf at Malibu almost every weekend when I lived in Calif. back in 1970. That was a great time to be in Calif. Back end of "flower power" lol! I fed the Moose while on a snowmobile trip in Quebec years ago. It was a cow (female moose) and she was hunkered in between two out buildings near one of our lunch stops. She was well on pregnant and not out foraging for food so was happy to take hand-outs. Normally, she would not allow people near her but she was as gentle as a house pet in those conditions. Moose are like any other animal. They will viciously defend their young and their territory. Other then that, they don't bother much with people. You don't want to hit one with your vehicle though - instant death (for occupants of the vehicle) 9 times out of 10. I will add that in rural Quebec, you can even get birds to eat out of you hand. We used to take bird seed with us and when stopped for a rest we would put seed in our hands and hold them out. Withing seconds, whisky-jacks (gray jays) would come down, land on your arm and eat the seed from your hand. No fear of people what so ever. Super cool experience3 points

Forgot to say I thought moose were dumb and friendly...but then look at the wild animals I live with...3 points

Congrats Rajag! 4 Years is awesome! I'm happy you posted up about this. You were not on my list of celebrations only because I never came across your profile when putting the list together. Now ... you're on it Hope you celebrated the occasion. Quitting never gets old!3 points

Welcome back @Steveo1. I personally have not used the SOS feature of the board, but I have seen others on the board use it successfully. If you do not have access to the net for any reason and it so happens you get a crave and can't post an SOS, try to fight the crave. Here's a video link that may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7Z980ITCvk3 points

@Steveo1 try not to beat yourself up. But educate yourself more and more. This is a great place to do that. Post an SOS so when you have those impulses to smoke you can refer to your SOS that you previously posted. I'm sorry to hear that you had one. We are here for you!!3 points
