Still, I know I am an addict and one puff away from relapse. Therefore, I do not nudge the addict awake or give the addict any opportunity but, after five years of freedom, the voice of the addict is notably mute. It is a peaceful freedom. So, if you are young in your quit and feel weary of the struggle, hold on. You won't be thinking about smoking or not smoking forever. I promise.

I have a hard time communicating in cyberspace; when I read my posts they sound harsh, but that's not my intention. So I hope I don't sound that way to any of you. I wouldn't be critical of anybody who uses vaping to get off cigarettes. I don't feel certain, for myself, that vaping is safe, and I've already done a lot of damage to my body, so vaping wasn't for me. But that's a personal thing, and I support everybody in their battle against smoking, however they go about it.

We have planet fitness out here, treadmill is great so is the elliptical. I like the sight seeing and i have a couple rtes i run but i also use the machines

After i first quit i wasnt able to walk a couple blocks. Its cold out here and it makes me feel real good to be able to do this every day. My lungs feel good not heavy at all and it keeps me toned

I met a girl whose mom worked for Hospice. And she told me her mom said patients who vape were dying at young ages from vape fluid in their lungs, and that her mom thinks vapes cause danger even fast than cigarettes. I don't know if it's true, but it made me sure I wanted to quit instead of replace cigs with vapes.

I started on/off smoking at 18 (post high school) and daily at 22 in college. So, like JB, my child years were pretty much behind me I was an avid cyclist. Still am but I use my exercise bike more than my real one. Waiting for warm weather to return. I also remember having more hair back then. Can I blame that on smoking too?

Both claim different, its fairly new that we find out as it happens. They just have to "sell it" (sales pitch). I have friends that love to vape, they claim they quit smoking now vape. They didnt quit nicotine to me, they took the easy way. I tried to share with them how great it is after, it sucks for a while early in but that goes away after you quit cold turkey.Your govt is definitely pushing the vape/e-cigg

Yeah, I heard it takes 28 days to create a new habit. So if I can force myself to exercise for 28 days, I'll be hooked, according to theory. I love walking, but I do have to force myself with the resistance bands. But I really want to gain strength.

It is illegal to sell vaping products in Australia that contain nicotine. There is no support of them by anyone other than big tobacco. In some states it is even illegal to sell vaping products period. Individuals can buy vaping fluid containing nicotine from overseas but can only bring in a 2 month supply for a single individual. I sometimes wonder if the reason we have so many nanny state laws is because we started as a prison and it's just ingrained to walk the line.

For myself it was over a year when i got drunk and had no urge to smoke, i was afraid of alcohol that it would trigger me wanting to smoke. I had quit in the past which i had mentioned but i was also avoiding certain triggers. After meeting the triggers head on and flat out saying NO which we do our pledge of NOPE on here i felt confident. To you and sslip, at times even now for myself certain things pop up and I just learned not to reach for them. Thats the difference for me, I'll go for a walk or work out and accepted i had that addict brain and you know what ... Having an addict brain is OK. We're all human and are born to make mistakes.. @Sslip

I am 8 months also and agree with what Sslip states. At this point I am somewhat comfortable with my quit but not totally confident. I feel I have much to learn still with 44 years of smoking behind me so I know there are still hidden triggers that I have to on guard for. I waiting to get through the next month or so (big time of smoking "enjoyment" from this time of year, end of summer beginning of fall). I fully expect to make the turning point -- but taking it one day at a time and realizing how far I have come!!
