I really thought Team Ruff might win the Lombarky Trophy this year, but I congratulate Team Fluff on a game well played.3 points

Still an ex smoker. Work schedule has been intense. I live in the capital, right downtown. My job is weird, recipricocity. Its real weird. Occasionally also exciting. I have motivated two other friends to quit IRL. Its been almost a month. I am not going to lie, I am still getting three to five strong craves a day. I dont mind them. I snack and exercise to cope. My doctor will undoubtedly approve of both the weight gain and the positive shift in attitude. A glimpse of what I get to enjoy as an ex-smoker3 points

We are definitely here and all of us keeping our quits, short and long, and standing by for each other and anyone else who gets on this QuitTrain. Replies my be a little slower coming just now since the Super Bowl is being played. You may not follow American football but many do. Hope the worst of it has passed! Jump around or whatever you need to do just don't smoke. That's the main thing.3 points

Bakon is right --- NOPE --- it does work. Take some deep breaths, a glass of cold water and remember why you are quitting. It is doable, I am only 1 month in on my quit and I smoked for over 40 years over a pack a day. You can get through this.3 points

Keep on keepin on. It’s easy. Thoughts always(ALWAYS) pass and you can control them. It’s a myth to think that one cannot control one’s thoughts. I can smoke, I simply do not want to. Not even one puff. I have zero desire…I’m convinced… I feel too doggone good. I love life and I love feeling good in it. And my wife(my best friend) can tell you, I feel damned good. I love to make people smile with my quirky little jokes, especially her. She’s been smiling a lot more… Quitting is easy, I should have done it years ago. It makes me cringe to think how much this drug has taken away from me over the years. It’s taken my health, my money and my time. It’s my turn, bitches…3 points

Big, welcome. You can do this just remember the NOPE pledge each day. Lots of people here to help and a lot of information on this forum that will help you, take time to read and it will help you greatly. I smoked for over 40 years and like Octain I am now 1 month in and getting stronger each day.2 points

OK so I'm really late to this conversation but am interested to know if we backed away from the ledge or jumped? Hopefully the former? Please check back in and let us know. We have a lot of information and support around this place that will help you along if you are serious about quitting. That would all apply to both of you by the way.2 points

NOPE....it works. Five plus years following that one word. Can't fail if you never inhale! Sfhit stinks too. Stunts growth of the main muscle and makes breath like crap. Window licking is smarter than smoking2 points

You ever just kick back on a rainy Sunday morning and listen to some smooth jams? I suggest you try it sometime.2 points

Never doubt yourselves Newbies !!!! So...it's been a while since your last smoke...you may be wondering if your doing the right thing, one won't hurt !!! Your one puff away from 1 pack...100 pks ..in other words right back were you started, and wishing you are where you are today.. Your absolutely doing the right thing...this is the best experience and fulfilling achievement you can do for yourself... I still feel that proud high five feeling... After all ...what we have done is nothing short of amazing....ridding ourselves of a killer addiction... Give yourselves a big pat on the back...2 points

Congrats Octain for reaching that 1 month milestone! It's not easy by any means but you've put the most difficult days of your quit behind you! Great Job! Keep battling that Nicomonster1 point

That’s all you need, today. Go to bed tonight without smoking a cigarette today. Challenge yourself. When you feel like you need to smoke manipulate your mind into thinking about something else. There are bunch of folks here that are living proof that it can be done.1 point

Did one of my most difficult hikes ever on Saturday. Total elevation gain was over 8000 feet! Lord help my poor feet! Skyline Trail to Aerial Tramway Top Station DISTANCE 9.7 miles ELEVATION GAIN 8051 feet ROUTE TYPE Point to Point Description This is a very difficult hike and people have died or been injured while hiking here. Use caution and you will have a challenging but rewarding hike.1 point

Didn't workout yesterday, but did some home improvement work on my basement/gym. Put down new flooring (horse stall mats) in my weight lifting area. Hung up some gymnastics rings and a climbing peg board. I got a sweet deal on a Concept 2 rower and got it set up yesterday as well. The shoulder is good to go and I'm pretty damn proud of my home gym. Time to do some work!1 point

We don't get to see the commercials up here because they substitute them for good ol Canadian content - lol. It's a huge bone of contention here every year. Even the US cable feeds sub the crappy Canadian content commercials so we miss out on all that. I suppose I could figure out a way to stream it through my computer and connect that to the TV monitor if I were more industrious I'm going to be slow cooking some back-ribs and "special recipe" baked beans. The ribs were prepared and have been soaking in marinade for the last day and a half. Haven't had a good Rib feast in awhile so looking forward to that1 point

Did the treadmill thing again today because if I went outside I might turn blue lol.....also added in some squats, lunge pulses, crunches on a stability ball amongst other things. Down a total of 27 lbs only have about 28ish more to go for goal. Keep moving on lol How is everyone today? Lisa1 point

Joel ASKED me if he could join up and cautioned me that his presence could cause some discord. He then asked me how much I wanted him to post to which I told him he could post as often as he would like to. After all, when you Google how to quit smoking (or related searches) Joel's materials are always at the top of search results so why not allow (not that he ever needed my permission) him to post here? It would be insane not to, as his materials have helped masses of people from all over the world quit smoking. The notion that his materials are insignificant or somehow illegitimate because he never smoked is preposterous. The psychiatrist who successfully treats patients doesn't have the prerequisite to have had the same disorder in in which he/she is treating in order to see results. He or she only has to have empathy, experience, knowledge and most importantly, the data which shows efficacy of treatments. Through the many clinics that Joel ran through the American Cancer Society and on his own, he gained a vast and invaluable collection of data which came directly from smokers over the course of decades. He, like the Dr. helping a person cope with the devastation caused by a divorce, losing a job, a spouse or a child does not have to have experienced the same to help the patient. You know who spoke truth to me about my drug addiction to nicotine? My Dr. He never smoked a day in his life yet he knew about this addiction and what it would take for me to quit. He steered me to a place to get help which led me to Joel's materials. Lastly, those who mentioned that his posts were spam ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Spam is profit driven or driven for some other nefarious purpose. Joel has never made a dime from any of his materials. His time spent here behind the scenes before he ever joined was free. He has a desire to help people quit smoking and stay quit. He's never asked for anything and to assume that he posts to drive people to YouTube or elsewhere is bananas. Do you not realize that ALL of Joel's videos were posted on this site long before he ever joined?? If click bait were the case, he would have never allowed me to do this. He encourages anybody to use his materials with the goal of helping people save their lives. Talking about inflicting bodily harm to Joel because of efforts is very telling of where some people are at. Should it get asked, QT is funded solely by me; always has and always will be. Nothing on this site came to me as free as I have to retain programmers, designers, pay for licensing of the software etc. Moreoever, QuitTrain is a Registered Trademark which was also not free, but imperative to the longevity of something that myself and few others created (the Moderators) and what was created is protected. I allow no advertisements and don't take donations etc., even though I've been asked to. Hell, I don't even allow Facebook logins because in case you didn't know, when sites allow this, they gain access to your friend list and can send adverts etc. to which I want NO PART OF. I share the same desire as Joel and my moderators to freely give time and money to help ANYBODY quit smoking and stay quit. To this, you do not have the right to make false accusations regarding the motives of those who take their time and money to help complete strangers save their lives by quitting this deadly addiction. Joel will not be posting here and that is his choice. However, he will still be in daily or weekly contact with me as he has for several years now. He has lots to offer and ways to help and I am always grateful for this. QuitTrain® allows free and open membership to anybody who has a desire to quit smoking or help others quit so long as our guidelines are followed.1 point
