Hopefully wellness.  Yes, I quit but what did the years of smoking do.  I try to imagine my body healing as my quit years add up.

@Mee most smokers don't realize how much smoking has taken away from them until they stop. Suddenly you are breathing easier. You can say a sentence or two with out running out of puff,  your heart rate and blood pressure improves.

Every single day that you don't inhale all those poisons and carbon monoxide your body especially your lungs are healing. Good for you  xx

  3. You are fabulous. I know of of a man who is 66 and has emphysema. He continues to smoke a combination of nicotine and MJ every day. He can't even walk to the bottom of his driveway. His poor wife administers his puffers and medicines every day. He is committing slow suicide. I just don't get it. Why would you put yourself and the person you love through all of that. Sorry I guess I'm venting. Good job with the walking. Sister to sister, even though we are continents apart, please know that I'm super proud of you. Keep it going.
  4. @Katgirl Look at it this way for those 6 years you weren't smoking. That in itself is a huge accomplishment. Beating oneself up about "could have" "should have" never helped. Focus on the positive now. You are 8 days into the non smoking life you used to have. TODAY you are a non smoker. It does not matter what happened in the past. That's why it's called the past. Enjoy your non smoking status and be proud. Big hugs.
  5. How many loaves of bread can you buy for that price please?
  6. I love treating myself to new gym clothes. When I give my body the good stuff (exercise) I like to look good. For me it just goes hand in hand. (look good, feel good)
  7. Augustus, you are such a precious lady soul.
  8. This is for you Matthew. Please let us know how you are feeling and getting along. Have a lovely day
  9. We have all been there. It feels like IT has us by the balls, but we eventually discover that we feel happier and more peaceful without it.Smoking is actually an unnessary stressor. We do things a MILLION times better without it. Start with small steps. Starting today, buy a lower nicotine brand. To satisfy your hand to mouth gratification sip water or OJ out of a sippy bottle. Snack on grapes. The brain is powerful!! Set a date and every day tell yourself I will be free, I will be free, I will be free... Freedom will be mine on the (insert date) say it with conviction. Say your mantra at least 20 times per day in your head or out aloud. Look yourself in the mirror when you are at home. Look straight into your eyes, into your soul which only wants the best for you. Mean it with all your ♥ Best of luck. You've got this and we will be with you every step of the way xx
  10. NOPE. ODAT. Freedom tastes so sweet - Peachfuzz
  11. Hey Matthew, welcome to the Quit Train. I'm sorry you are having a rough time. I know you have an open mind and you would consider anything. I'm not in the USA so I don't know what you have over there but some of us need a proper cessation program, like a Smoke Ender's or Alan Carr. Reprogramming your neural pathways of having a daily habit with its array of associations (and in my opinion a much lesser degree of addiction) and for many of just cannot just stop with a flip of a switch and need a lot more guidance and tutoring. I hope you get what I'm saying. I wish you the best of luck. No matter what or how you have our support, one percent.
  12. YEE-HA, I'm doing the Belkie Dance Of Joy, youve got this one in the bag. Nothing tastes sweeter than freedom xx
  13. I'm feeling so much better! Loads of sleep, quite a bit of crying and with my favorite person in the world, we are working through certain issues. One step at a time. Today gone into double digits! Take it easy everybody
  14. For many of us, 1s to many and a 1000 are never enough.

We are always one puff away from a pack a day.

    Just DON"T do it!

  15. Hang in there my friend. We need to keep strong Gus and just keep on keeping on. I've got your back and I'm praying for you and us. I'm having to deal with a host of personal things right now, but lighting up is never, ever the solution. Look what happened to me after a 12 year relapse and I've got to go through all this crap again. I actually feel its harder this time but we have a funny way of only remembering the good, so it's hard to say. I just know that I'm never going through this crap again. Strongs to you.
  16. Hey you guys, it's nearly 8 days. On Monday night I felt very triggered and the urge was strong but I rode the wave. This evening I felt stressed, irritable, angry and depressed all rolled into one. And my sleep is inconsistent. Sometimes great, sometimes terrible and my weight is up. I confess i have been eating more but ive been exercising loads too. Maybe my muscles are holding water. This is driving me crazy as I'm very weight conscious. Either way I'm not going back to smoking. I'll just need to ride it out. Don't get me wrong I'm over the moon and super pleased but my joy is gone at the moment. Hopefully it will be back soon. Hope you are all doing great. Love you all.
  17. To all the women fulfilling motherly roles (wearing many hats) and making their health a priority too, a big hug, kiss and a wish for a very Happy Mother's Day! Hope you all get spoilt rotten

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
