  1. Thank you. Today wasn't the easiest. I didn't have any nicotine cravings but I did have a bit of an altercation with a family member who is quitting both nicotine and MJ. They chose this to be their day 1 too. I'm not sure if that's the best idea but I will be sure to tread carefully tomorrow and not upset them. This was quite unsettling emotionally but this is life and putting a rolled up thing with bits in your mouth and putting fire to it won't change a darn thing. At 15hoo I just couldn't focus on anything more and I felt SO tired. It's quite cold today so it was good to get in to bed. Fell asleep straight away and slept for an hour. I'm really pleased I'm not wanting it. Oh and I had a peppermint chocolate and put a tsp of sugar in my chai latte. This is not like me, I'm more of a savoury person, but it's all good. In about 4 hours it will be day one dusted. Already I can feel my breathing is a lot easier and deeper. In my soul I feel happy. @Mee This forum is definitely my new addiction xx
  2. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, old real music the best. Giving my age away here
  3. 45 minutes weight training done this morning. I'm going to need to have consistent hard exercise to keep my endorphins, dopamine and serotonin elevated, as those extra "dopamine bursts" from smoking will no longer be occuring. Wishing you all a happy and healthy day 🏋♀
  4. Thank you sweetie
  5. 22h09 - I put the last one out at 21h30 Central African time. I got a little inebriated (tipsy) because I'm not going to be having alcohol for a while. I guess it was a bit like having my "last supper" BUT I'm good and I feel positive. I've been preparing for this. Right now my mouth feels lovely. Miswak toothpaste has a yummy liquorice flavour. Have a lovely evening or day wherever you are beautiful souls. I'll be sticking close. I don't always post, but I read every. single. little. thing. I'll be sleeping soon. Gym first thing in the morning. Keep strong Gus. Luffs and hugs xx
  6. Sorry for you Chicks rule and sticks drool
  7. Fresh air and solitude is such a rejuvenating combination @Boo I need a LOVE button as found on Facebook!
  8. Totally agree.
  9. Many people thinks it takes 21 days to build a new habit but a study has shown that on average, it's more around the 66 day mark. Personally I think the longer one has had the habit, the longer it will take to break away completely https://www.healthline.com/health/how-long-does-it-take-to-form-a-habit#base-figure What are your thoughts?

  11. I'm proud of you Gus and every single other overcomer on this site. Everybody's quit looks different. I equate it to going on a different eating plan or making lifestyle changes. What works for one person may not work for another. So long as one beats this demon.
  12. Monday morning 45 minutes HIIT and cardio done! Have a great week everyone.
  13. Every time I see your profile pic, I see a pretty blonde lady. It messes with my brain
  14. Three sleeps to go.

  15. You are taking the steps and that in itself is HUGE. When you are ready you could look at things like yoga, box breathing, and meditation to ease the anxiety. Even just a walk around the block will release natural endorphins and soothe your mind. This is a time to be kind to yourself. Big bubble baths, hot rock massages or something as simple as giving yourself a Mani or a Pedi. Giving yourself the gift of health is the best thing you can do for yourself. Health really is wealth. When you feel good about yourself, all these things will snowball in your favour. I'm not a doctor but ideally work IMHO work towards weaning the patches. Once the nicotine is out of your system (3 days) the true detox starts. I personally find journalling and doing my gratitude journal makes some days SO much more bearable. Every couple of days do a personal "check in" on yourself. See the diagram below. Keep strong. Big hugs.
  16. Distract, Refocus, Regroup. So much of a bad habit is just that a habit. Associations, triggers and emotions. Quite often fight or flight will come into play. To build healthy (and different) neural pathways we need to form different (and healthy habits) We HAVE to go about life differently as a non smoker. Manage the chimp and the rest will fall into place. Great post @sharonsiff God bless.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
