  1. NOPE Craving a cigarette, so good time to pledge for a new day. Going to bed to sleep it off. There's always a way around or through or over or under a craving, if one just looks hard enough, and wants to find a way enough.

  6. I found the best way for me to get past the morning craving was to change up my routine. I forced myself to hop in the shower first thing and get moving! If weather was nice, I would take a walk around the neighborhood or walk the dog. I have progressed over the past 3 years to where I am now doing hiking!!!

  12. Sorry...being a bit daft here but is smokeless tobacco that chewing stuff or vaping?...not that it really matters both are a nicotine addiction. I was not a cold turkey quitter, I used nrt chewies (gum). If you do choose this method i suggest going in with an exit plan....while on the nrt you are still feeding the addiction so you need to be pretty strict with how you plan to cut down and stop the nrt. Set time frames and daily limits. We are all different but if you want to know shat worked for me im happy to share.

  13. Smoke or smokeless, you're a nicotine addict. Same as all of us here. Cravings for nicotine first thing in the morning and after a meal was normal for most of us and we successfully quit. You just have to practice self discipline just as if you were still in the military. This time instead of fighting for our freedom though you're fighting for your life. Don't give in to that big baby nicotine. Put your foot down and say enough is enough. You can do it up in smoke, and we'll support you along the way. Thank you very much for your service

  18. No you can not smoke in Vegas then stay quit when you return home. It doesn't work that way. Nicotine addiction is a lot different than occasional drinking or gambling. You're probably not addicted to either of those. IMO, you'd be nuts to throw away a 3 week investment in your healthier future. It's not as hard today for you to fight the cravings as it was three weeks ago so why cave now!

  19. You really have to know where to buy them because you're right, most wings are skin & bones with very little chicken on them. I never eat wings at a restaurant because they are always disappointing. Over cooked and what little meat is on them is all dried out. There's a market near where I live and they sell really large wings (uncooked of course), with the wing tips cut off (because there's zero meat there). These wings are really meaty. I can only eat about 6 in one sitting - maybe 8 if I'm really hungry. Eating them out somewhere, I'd eat 12 -16 and still be hungry

  20. You, like us, are nicotine addicts. We cannot have just one. This is impossible and if you listen to the addiction instead of the Truth, you will remain a slave.

  22. You don't need to use nrt cheque. You could just use normal stuff...um maybe that cinnamon stuff cos it has a bit of a bite to it. The action of chewing is still met without the nasty poisons and drugs.

I'm sure your well aware of the dangers of chewing tobacco.....it's only a matter of time ... Stick close ...come here kicking screaming ,complaining ....we heard it all.... Buckle up ...Take the daily pledge ..NOCE....Not one chew ever .... Try reading Allen Carr the easy way to stop smoking ....this guy has helped millions kick the addiction ... Many here too...just change the word smoke for chew...same principle.... Down load it for free.. You can do it ...

  26. Good job Up in smoke, Now the real work begins. The cravings are just the by product of your inner junkie looking for the nicotine it needs. The brain needs to constantly send mental memos to the body telling it that you're no longer going intake nicotine. This will be a struggle for a little while but it will get easier with time. Stick by the boards and educate yourself as much as you can. This will help you in your fight for freedom from the nicotine monster.

  34. Good on you for posting Michael, I think you already know that its impossible for nicotine addicts like us to have "just one" or smoke "just while......". So now that we have that answered, there's something about the three's. Three days, three weeks, three months that make the craves suddenly come on strong. Don't quite know the science behind it but it happens to A LOT of us. That being said, just that you posted tells me you REALLY don't want to cave and that alone should give you the confidence you need to get past it. It's only temporary and it will pass. One trick I used when I was having a bad crave day was using my JAC (jillars air cigarette), I just pretended I was holding an actual cigarette in my fingers and then went through the motions of "smoking" it. It worked REALLY well at tricking my mind into thinking it was getting the real thing. You're doing great and I'm so glad you cancelled your trip to Vegas, it's a horrible time with this virus to be in a casino!

  35. Welcome up in smoke, we have a lot of members who have successfully quit with all those methods you tried. I quit cold turkey but I did have a three week long quit on chantix. It worked really good on the cravings. Where I messed up is not taking it for the recommended time which I believe is three months. I only took the first month and stopped because my insurance didn't cover it and almost instantly went back to smoking. So if you do decide to try it be sure to stay the course and you should be successful. I think though for me that finding a support board with people who knew how and what I was going through was key to my success at quitting cold turkey. They were/are here for me from the day I found them and really just let me know and reassure me that I could keep my awesome quit. That's what we want to do for you too

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
