  1. This is great @Robbie!
  2. Kris—all of what you are going through is normal. There is some information on sleep disruption in some of the videos and embedded in some of the personal posts made by members. I’m not good at sharing links and stuff though. I’m sure someone will send you some links. I’m 100 days in and my sleep issues have lessened some. I seem to currently be stuck at 10:30-bed, wake up at 2, wake up at 4:30–start my day. And that’s with a sleep aid. Diphenhydramine and ibuprofen cocktail. I try to have no caffeine after 2:30. But the sleep deprivation is hard to deal with and get through. It makes for some really long days. I’m hoping mine will balance out more when I go back to work. In the beginning of my quit I looked up tips on getting a good nights sleep. Tried most of them and stuck with what worked for me. I do hope that you can get some rest soon!
  3. Well said @Kris!

  5. @Kris Things will be better. They are already headed that way. Stay strong and fight for your life and there is no other better reason to do that than out of love for another. Stay close and holler when you need us. We are here for you!
  6. So true @d2e8b8 I’ve noticed this on several occasions but then reality kicks in and I come here to this place and follow all of you fine people.
  7. Thanks @Linda @Steven Drojensky @jillar and @Doreensfree! I long to be past this. I feel that if I can get a job and get settled into it my emotional roller coaster ride will not be so bumpy! I appreciate the pep talks. Sorely needed by me.

    Five days to go

10 yearssss! I can only imagine! I’m going to miss your kind words. I wish you well!
  9. That sounds like a really long time doesn’t it? And with my Southern drawl it sounds even lonnnger. HaHa It has been a rough day today. I’ve been job hunting, so I’m stressed. All day I have been having to smell cigarette smoke as I enter into and exit out of buildings. One time I actually thought that it smelled so good! I have several job interviews next week and I’m really anxious about them. I haven’t worked in 20 years, but now I need to and the pressure to be hired is harsh. I haven’t thought that I needed or wanted to smoke, but the idea of smoking hasn’t been as abhorrent to me today either. I’m just going to have to dig deeper than I have so far and ignore the idea that smoking wasn’t so bad. It seems I recall a video and some posts concerning the dangers of romanticizing smoking. I will look those up. Like I’ve said so many times, “I only have one quit in me. I would never survive another quit.” I am an addict and I must physically and mentally distance myself from all things nicotine. I will prevail!

THIS is amazing @madturtle! I am so very happy for you. I am only (almost) 3 months quit and a year of being smoke free seems so very far away, but I notice that when I try to focus on the long term I get really anxious, so I am still a day by day and sometimes an hour by hour quitter. I so totally understand how the mind can so easily cause you to want light one up and reminisce. But that will not happen because I can never go through the early mental anguish of quitting ever again. Once again, congratulations and I hope that you are so very proud of yourself!
  22. Be careful out there @Dianne and stay safe! I’m glad that you cut your walk short, sad that you had to though.
  23. I think that it would be perfectly natural to have some misapprehensions concerning your upcoming 2 weeks off when it has been years since you’d taken any time for yourself. You’ll come through it fine, but we are here to help you out if you have any problems! Enjoy your ‘me time!’

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
