  1. Welcome Patricia! I am one of this newbies @jillar mentioned. 6 month quit on the 17th of September. I smoked for 40 years! And I loved smoking! I lived my whole life around my smoking. I also suffer from anxiety. I will not say ‘if I can do it you can do it!’ But I promise to help you in anyway that I can! Just stay close to us and reach out when needed!
  2. Welcome back and that shame will soon be replaced with pride in what you are going to accomplish! We are here for you and will head you out. Stick close!
  3. This is grand Justin! Don’t belittle it! I remembered how thrilling it was when I turned the calendar page!
  4. Welcome back! Your seat is never taken here on the Quit Train! I’m glad that you found your way back! You’ve got this! For your son and a lifetime of memories! You’ve got this!

    Who's in Charge?

Me! Me! Me! That would be me! I am in charge today! Nicotine has no power over me ever again!
  6. Happy 5 year anniversary @Lust4Life! And thank you for hanging around to encourage us newbies!
  7. I hope that things are better for you Monday! . My smoking was masking some severe anxiety issues I didn’t even realize that I have. I’ve smoked since I was 15. I knew that I had issues, I just had no clue how bad they are until I quit smoking. Over time it’s lessened exponentially, but I still have triggers that will have me a heap of tearful uselessness in a heartbeat. I’m dreading the holiday season this year as I suffer from SAD, but I do have hope that there will be enough time between my quit and then that I will muddle through as always. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please stay close to us. We are here for you.
  8. Me too.
  9. Excellent! Congratulations on 20 and Happy 60th! I appreciate your words. The personal stories on this site have helped me the most and yours today have given me so much to look forward to. I’m at 6 months. Looking forward to a year! Looking forward to 20!!!
  10. Welcome OregonGirl! I’m so glad that you’ve joined us! You can do this! Keep posting! It’s like talking your way through your quit and believe me, every word you say will be read by so many others who are struggling to quit and who knows how many your words will help over time. Stay close!!!
  11. Hello Justin! Welcome aboard! It seems that you have educated yourself and are very well prepared for the mental games our addiction likes to play with us! I’m 6 months in! There are some of the best people on the planet here to help you along in your quit. I would not have made it this far without them nor from all of the posts made here over the years! I wish you the best and please do hang around for awhile!
  12. Thanks, @Kris! I think that it helped actually! Sure there was a lot stress in starting a new job and meeting so many new people, but I was also so busy that I didn’t have time to even want a cigarette, except for a few days when I got off work. I was also too tired to have actually stopped somewhere to buy them. HaHa I saw a couple of days ago that a few people had mentioned volunteering for something somewhere. That really sounds like a grand idea, if you can do it!
  13. 6 months!! I never would have actually thought I would make it this far! One thing is for sure, looking back…I’ll never go through that again!!! Smoke free for life!!! Thanks everyone for all the support and advice along the way! QuitTrain, her crew, and fellow passengers are the best!!!!
  14. Now you know you need the bipod!

  16. I was happy to see that you were able to work through your crave Opah. Those things come out of nowhere and happen to the best of us. I hope that you are planning something really special for that one year anniversary! You deserve it!
  17. Congratulations on 5 years!!!
  18. YAY!! Congratulations on 2 years quit!
  19. Keep hanging in there Tara! It is hard. It is so very hard, but I promise you that it is so worth it if you do! Every time you ride out a crave you get stronger! In time you will look back and say, “That’s me! I kicked butt!” I wish you all the success in the world at quitting. Stay close and continue to reach out if needed!

  23. Still In my seat!!!!
  24. So true Kris! I think that it is the one thing that binds everyone here together: the desire that everything and any little bit we document will one day be the one thing that helps a future quitter keep their quit and/or help someone through a particularly rough patch.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
