Welcome Jack... Great to have you join us... So..there isn't much I can add but... 1. A craving will not last more than 3-5 minutes if you can destract yourself mentally and not fixate on it. So I used to play patience or memory match in an app on my phone. The PC game mine sweeper works a treat too. 2. Drink juice or suck hard lollies (candy) cos it helps, you blood sugar levels can drop because nicotine withdrawal can affect the insulin resistance in your body...it's part of the cause of mood swings. 3. Having a shower or going for a swim helps with craves... Because you can't smoke in water. 4. Don't be afraid to post an SOS if you think you might smoke. Promise that no matter how much you think you want to smoke before you do you will post an SOS... And wait for 3 people to respond. 5. Only take it one day at a time. Just 24hours. I'm over a year in and every morning I still say "I'm not Gunna smoke today".. Oh last tip...I'm the resident Aussie looney bird... I use a lot of Aussie slang but I'm always happy to translate so just ask.

Congratulations @Raidermom23 for being one month smoke free. Well done on making it through the first and hardest month of your quit. Its great to see you in noping. So as I tell all the first timers rewards are super important. Rewarding yourself for milestones helps to re-wire those nicotine receptors in your brain. So make sure you do something special to spoil yourself and celebrate your first month anniversary.

I used to smoke my way through this obligatory phone call
notsmokinjo replied to Kate18's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
I get the obligation and not being able to just cut this person from your life.. you should be so proud of yourself... you spottedd a potential issue, you went in with a plan... you did what had to be done and you did not have a smoke. What a great feather to add to your quit cap... super effort and your only in week 2... good signs young lady. -
I am plotting....mwahahaha!

Goodmorning NOPErs... today is Boxing Day... which means only one thing.... Cricket at the G.... that's right boys and girls test 3 is a bout to kick off at the one and only MCG the greatest sporting oval in the world.... there are 3 things I can guarantee for this match... a fair wicket (Victorians like to be able to have spin and pace in our line up), a huge crowd... multiple mexican waves and beer fuelled tom foolery and some bloody superb cricket... Oh and its gunne be a stinker (hot) so there will be the sent of a 100,000 bodies frying in the sun.. but its a tradition people... cricket on boxing day, not boxing on boxing day.... and no its not the day you get rid of the empty christmas boxes. NOPE.... I'm frickin 393 not out... definately wont be throwing away my quit.
-
Here you go... 9,800.... on they go for my second smoke free chrissy.
-
Congratulations @Parsley for being 4 months smoke free. Well done on having such a solid base set up for your quit. Thank you for the support you offer to others coming behind you are your peers. Even though you should be getting spoiled today for Christmas I hope you also get the chance to reward and spoil yourself to celebrate your 4 month quitaversary.
-
Merry Christmas and a very big NOPE. I loved waking up Chrissy morning and not having to miss the kids reactions while I was in the yard having a durry.... missed it last year with not sleeping and all....it was a glorious feeling... So today is Christmas Day and for those not of the Christian Persuasion or the Commercial Bent today is also Wedesday 25th of December and Pumpkin Pie Day... so we eat pumpkin as a savory veg down here so pumpkin pie is not something i have ever had.... so if you don't want to Christmas... why not Pumpkin Pie. NOPE... not missing a single minute to feed an addiction.
