  1. I fully believe the concept of one day at a time sets the foundation for an everlasting quit. Like you- the thought of never smoking again freaked me out if I looked too far ahead. It is much more manageable to wake up and say “I will not smoke today” and then don’t smoke. Give yourself a pat on the back, go to bed. Wake up and repeat! One day becomes one week which becomes one month, two months etc... Congratulations on reclaiming your life and resetting your priorities !!
  2. The end justifies the means.

  7. Hi Cristóbol! Congratulations on 7 years. I’m a QSMB refugee riding the QT. I recall reading many of your pinned & not-pinned posts in my early quit days. I, too, was a cold turkey quitter. Like your wife, I had some struggles in the beginning. Your posts, QSMB, and all levels of phartes helped me secure my forever quit. Thank you for sticking around & helping others all these years later. Bravo! -L4L
  8. Way to go Sunshine! Congratulations on 1 month!!
  9. Are the vaping tragedies part of a plan? The Plan? The Plan to lure people back to the leaves of death? I hate to think anyone would be capable of devising and implementing this scare tactic. Make it so the juices become questionable. Make it so enough adverse events are reported. I hope the deaths were not part of the equation. Vaping was thought to be safer. Vaping kills instantly. Smoke tobacco. Better yet, smoke the more pricey no additives tobacco. Even better yet buy the overly, overly packaged organic tobacco products. It does not kill instantly. Live longer to die a smoker. The longer you live as an addict, the more rich they become. *these are my words. I do not wish to disclose my full name but will claim authorship as rstrn.
  10. I would LOVE for Australia to take over the world right now. I would even consider taking a bite of that vegemite stuff. And then puke like the image @Rozuki used. Sidebar- i should probably learn how to insert the gifs and memes and stuff other than emojis If not for the laws of physics and what not- I would gladly have my toilet water flush the other way. If Australia took over the world and dropped their infamously GIGANTIC spiders on us all- I would scream expletives and take cover- but I would welcome the new world order.
  11. G’day- Nope starts my day! Congratulations on 4 years quit, Chris. Thanks for getting the party started everyday in the nope thread too!!!

  18. Yay! 3 weeks in the books. This is FANTASTIC juan. Your body is thanking you in many ways. Keep your quit growing!
  19. Me too @Linda Thomas Applying for and then starting a new job is stressful enough. I can’t imagine adding another layer on top. I’m curious why they started testing for nic. Smoke breaks? Insurance cost & usage?
  20. We all know the health benefits. We all know the financial benefits. We all know the smelling good benefits. Food tastes better. Breath is fresher. Skin is more radiant. We all love our freedom. Right? Another element of freedom that can easily be overlooked: freedom to get a new job. I have accepted a new job. Not only do I get tested for illegal drugs- I get tested for nicotine. The assays used will detect ANY nicotine from cigs, patches, gums, etc. If prospective employees use NRT, it must be disclosed prior to testing & they will continue to be monitored for nic use. I’m in healthcare so I’m not sure if this is a common practice elsewhere. I’m thankful and proud I no longer smoke. Now perhaps more than ever- except maybe at Disney-being a smoker at Disney is a real drag!!

Come here for support & distraction. In my early quit days- playing games in the socializing section got me thru a ton of craves. Glad you’re here! —L4L
  25. Birch- don’t smoke. For Pete’s sake don’t steal from others to feed the vile addiction. You are in control. You are. Not the craves, or desires. You are in control. Smoking desires will peep at you w come hither blinks & waves. All lies & deceit. Stay strong. Stay healthy. Stay in control.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
