  1. Sorry I've been out of touch for a bit. Got called to do a last minute test for work out of state and working 12hr days plus data analysis. Probably won't be back till next Monday. Being away from home for first time is creating new kinds of cravings. Still hanging in there. Today marks 6 weeks.

  7. Have been dealing with my share of bs in life the last couple of weeks and never thought about smoking. I had several failed quits and a friend once said 'you have no willpower'. Eventually, when I did quit, I realized it wasn't about willpower - it was about making a decision. The switch in the brain has to flip. What also helped was understanding triggers through a post by another user. If someone like me with several failed attempts and no willpower can quit, anyone can.

  8. I confess I didn't want to like it but I'm REALLY liking my smartphone. Not only was I able to get online using my data when our WiFi went out two days in a row but I also had a video call with my sister today. A first for both of us

  9. I, too, am a member of the QSMB... class of 2017 SmokeBusters! That online support group is the main reason I was able to power through my quit. I was devastated when it imploded and was so lucky to find my way here so I could climb aboard the Quit Train and here I am all these years later!

  23. I just spent 15 min typing about the cravings I've been having today because it is such a nice cool, breezy day which is the type of day I would really enjoy hiking and a smoke. Deleted it all because it was rambling and I got through the craving anyway. Point is, if you are having a difficult time, get on here and type. Whether you keep what you type or delete it, just the act of typing can be enough to get you through a craving.

  27. I was basically an out of control chainsmoker, 2-3 packs a day, and started really thinking about it when I turned 50. Figured it was now or never! Found the old QSMB (quitsmokingmessageboard, now gone) and whyquit.com and they were both enormous resources. Between those two and the Allen Carr Easyway book I was able to beat my addiction. whyquit is a great resource to learn and understand WHY nicotine has such a grip on people. Lots of reading and understanding helped me defeat it for sure, and Easyway helped a ton too. It really helped me 'flip the switch' in my mind and break free. January 29 2013 I put out the last one, blew the smoke out the window and said "THATS IT - NO MORE!" And have been free every since. I was hopelessly addicted and never thought I was going to do it, so anyone struggling with it just believe you can do it because YOU CAN! Use this board and all the other stuff and you WILL! Good luck! Jon

  28. One of my 6 fitness goals at the start of the year was to be able to do 40 standard pushups. My peak this year was 43 so I hit that. Now I just want to keep the ability to do 35. Sometimes I just do standard pushups for a lot of volume, but I also throw in a lot of variations like: spider man, diamond, close and wide grip, 1 leg off the ground, burpees, and elevated leg. Heres a video of me just goofing around with pushups.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
