November 9, 20187 yr First, I want to say how impressed and happy I am with all the congratulatory threads I am reading. You guys really do a fantastic job at supporting each other. Special thank you to Notsmokingjo for keeping them all squared and remembering anniversaries. Means so much for folks to be remembered and acknowledged. I don't want to leave anyone out so I won't name anyone individually (you know who you are) but special thanks also to all of you who follow those posts with encouraging messages, making them feel special and keeping them strong. You are such a special and fantastic group!! Thank you for all you do here! Without you, the QT would not exist. Thank you also to Doreensfree who has done a great job in her Moderating duty. It's not always an easy thing to separate when you are a member and a moderator. You are all so wonderful in fact that it upsets me to learn there has been some tension on the site in regards to personality clashes and maybe even forming alliances...and I am here to tell you that is an extremely dangerous epidemic for a support forum. Take it from me...I have been down this road before and it didn't end well. If I could turn back time, I would have handled it differently. Not because I thought I was wrong and they were right or vice versa...but because I should have been the bigger person.... because nobody comes out a winner. Just look at social media and politics...need I say more????? I am asking you....begging you all...to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...make an effort to overlook things and if you feel you can't...put that person on ignore. Also, if someone you just don't like posts something...unless you have something positive to contribute...please refrain from saying anything. If someone does post something offensive--please report it. Leave the moderating to the moderators. You can always also Private message me or one of the other mods if you want to discuss matters. We will do our best to help. MQ and the moderators here have always enjoyed a forum where people feel welcome and secure, to be able to post their feelings without judgement or criticism..and we have done that without heavy moderation. Let's please keep it that way...we are all adults here. For the past 4 years we have helped countless people fight the real enemy...that nasty smoking addiction. That's why we are here. Let's not lose focus on what is most important. It would be horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE, to lose members who need support or want to give support, just because you don't like them. I know NONE of you really want that. You are all better than that. Lastly...a reminder of the forum guidelines: Our guidelines are simple. If your post content, signatures, profile images, etc. are disruptive and impact our members' enjoyment of our community we may ask you to refrain from such actions or revoke your access to this community. We're here to help and support one another and have some fun along the way. This is your community. Make it count for something.--MQ
November 9, 20187 yr Thank you for your healing words, Babs. No, you didn't babble too much ! bakon is just lonesome by hisself in the backseat, poor darling. Poor, poor darling.
November 9, 20187 yr This has been my go to place for 3 mos. now. It is the first place I go in the morning (besides the bathroom) and the last place I go at night. Here I have found, friendship, support and have been able to loosen up a little and enjoy some humor! That is what makes this forum work. Thanks babs for addressing this. This forum is a lifesaver.

August 7, 20206 yr I have tried and pretty much succeeded in holding back unproductive criticism of others over the years, but it's time for the floodgates to open. Jillar leaves bunny pellets all over the house Jo speaks in strange tongues. I'm worried she's trying to start a cult right under our nose. Cbdave is sooooo negative! Every day it's NOPE, NOPE, NOPE! Doreensfree (and all the Brits for that matter) put the DAY then the MONTH in their quit dates. This carnt go on! I have lots more, but I'm just too worked up right now!

Sorry....I have a few more critical observations to spew: johnny5 is such a baby! Boo scares me any time someone utters his name

June 3, 20215 yr I'm a bit confused to be honest. If we disagree with something does that mean we are being nasty and shouldn't post. Has it got to be all fluffy kitten type of stuff, stroking brows etc. I'm not saying be intentionally nasty but it sounds a bit like if your face doesn't fit you're not welcome here. People see things differently and I saw things being blown out of proportion. This is a lovely place and I hope it doesn't become another clique forum. Will everyone put me on ignore now because I said how I felt lol

There's nothing wrong with a debate but when it gets heated or off topic or blown out of proportion then its time to step in and moderate for the good of our forum. It wasn't meant to single any one person or topic out and as you can see, babs wrote this in 2018. I just felt it was time for a reminder for all of us.

I really hope the forum accepts individual personalities and doesn't start to become a popularity site.
June 3, 20215 yr There was a thread here somewhere just a while ago where we commented on just how civilized this forum compared to most others I've ever joined at any point. There lots of varied opinions here at times like the great NRT debates that crop up from time to time. It's fine having different opinions and different personalities on any site, in fact that's what makes life interesting - the exchange of different views and ideas. I've never been under the impression that any of the Mods here are trying to stifle or control conversations or different viewpoints. The issues begin when things start getting heated and/or personal. No need for things to get nasty no matter what the discussion topic and I thing the Mods here do a great job keeping things on an even keel. No excessive political stuff (never ends well) and other controversial topics must be monitored careful to avoid blow-ups and when things are going off the rails, shut the topic down because there's no value to the forum community in continuing it. I don't see this place as any kind of popularity contest. There's new and old members alike and everybody seems to do their level best to help one another. On any forum, as in real life, there'll be people we run across who we just don't see eye to eye with for whatever reason but that's just the way we are as humans and when you run into those sorts of people then just stay away from getting into discussion with them or, put them on ignore. Less harm done that way than trying to have a pissing contest with them. That never ends well. It's been stated here many, many times: "Take what you need and leave the rest." Pretty much sums it up right there.
