  1. Thankful that things are going so great! Keep a journal and write what has worked to get you through your craves because later on as the craves lessen and time begins to erase your battle memories it will be very helpful to refer to when a crave comes out of nowhere and hits you broadside. It does get easier but is always lurking in the dark corners. 4 months quit today!
  2. Great post Abby! Being able to read posts like this during my initial quit days is what kept me going!!! This post will definitely help a lot of people. Thank you for being so open and honest.
  3. Congrats on 9 years!!!

  5. I haven’t had anyone offer me a cigarette since I quit. However I am accosted by strangers bumming for one every time I am out and about. But that was pretty normal beforehand. It doesn’t bother me. Though I am extremely proud to say, “No, I don’t smoke.” It makes me feel good and so very happy when I hear myself say those words.
  6. Hi! @Dianne I’m so sorry about all of the issues you are having. I feel for you. @jillar is right though. Staying quit will promote faster and better healing. You will get through all of this and be the better for it!! Keep your chin up and yes, start exercising! It lifts your spirits tremendously! Really glad that you are still on the train and thank you for checking in!!!
  7. Congratulations!!!
  8. Congratulations @Katgirl!!!
  9. Thanks for sharing! I didn’t realize this either. Nicotine is the devil!
  10. I had no issue linking to the site. Thank you for sharing it. Shore up the foundation of your quit everyone! Every bit of information we get can only strengthen our desire to quit and validate it!
  11. Congratulations Steven! You are doing great!
  12. WooHoo! Congratulations Linda! This is awesome!!!
  13. My dad was a four pack a day smoker. It seems he always had a cigarette in his mouth. My 6 siblings and I were full fledged nicotine addicts before we were borne. Within 3 months of his passing away the three teenagers left in the house, including me were lighting up smokes. My mom never smoked despite being around it her entire life. I guess she didn’t’t have to. I remember a few times when I was a teenager that I didn’t have money for cigarettes and I remember the withdrawal each and every time.
  14. Tried to get in several times and yes, I would miss this place and all of y’all too!
  15. Asparagus @Abby! LOL
  16. You are stronger than you know @Katgirl! I see it in your statements and by the choices you make and in your sheer determination to ‘do you!’ You are definitely a positive influence and someone to follow on this forum.
  17. I guess I’m going to have to be the odd one out. My anxiety has worsened since I quit smoking. I’ve had more panic attacks than I’ve had combined in the whole 55 years of my life prior to quitting smoking. Cigarettes masked my real issues and at times I really am a blinking bloody mess! I spend a lot of time identifying triggers and by trial and error learn the needed reaction and response to every situation. After I have my initial cry though. The crying has eased up considerably since I started work but only when my mind is FULLY engaged with something else. I will get it all figured out and adjust though. I have never taken medication as treatment for my mental mess and will not do so now. Maybe when I’m a little older and lose control of my thought processes too. LOL @Katgirl is one strong lady and the advise she gives is spot on as far as I’ve seen!!! I am overjoyed that you are enjoying your trip so much!!!
  18. Keep your quit @Kate18! Don’t give it up! Please call your kids. You may be surprised at how they respond.
  19. Is there anything NOT good, gooder, or mo’ better wrapped in bacon? LOL …sigh

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
