  1. And I'll provide her with the frying pan Be Good now Mr. "T".
  2. Oh Yes she does indeed!! Congrats Latoya!! You're doing great. Shame on me for missing your big day I was asleep at the switch!! (Actually, I was shoveling snow - lol). Next month you can start measuring your quit in fractions of a year
  3. Congratulations Ron! 9 Months is a great quit. You are 3/4 of the way to your 1st full year without smoking. Keep up the great work and you'll be on that Lido Deck before you know it
  4. Hi and welcome to Quit Train RVQ! Congrats on having 9 months quit under your belt. That's impressive! We have a whole library of Joel's videos here although you may have seen them all by now if you were part of the Why Quit community. You are correct in your statement about "Understanding". Knowledge about this addiction and how it works is truly the key to quitting successfully long term Oh and, another Cold Turkey guy here as well. Get the Nicotine out ASAP was my thought! Other methods may work for some but I'm glad I went CT!
  5. Hello .................... Test; 1,2,3. Anyone out there???
  6. Welcome back Evelyn. I was expecting you sooner actually. You were here when I joined a little over 1 year ago and had multiple quit attempts in the first couple of months that I was at this place struggling to free myself of this horrible addiction. So, now I am 1 year quit and am as sure as I can be that I will never smoke again and you are back here looking to start again from the very beginning. So what is different between you and me? Nothing! We are both nicotine addicts and always will be. I don't know you personally so I can't comment on what is in your head in terms of how you approach quitting and what has happened to you in the past that has seen you be unsuccessful. What I can tell you about me is that I read everything I could here in terms of posts, the pinned stuff on the main page and I watched a lot (not all) of the videos available here on quitting. I also came here a lot, particularly in the beginning months. I posted, I read posts, I played stupid games just to keep my mind occupied and distracted from the constant urges to smoke. Was it easy - no!! It was damned hard at times but I didn't think it would be easy. I put up with all that bullshit that you know very well is coming your way when you quit. I kept telling myself, "this will get easier and better sometime and it will be so worthwhile when it does. You know what? It did and it IS so much better. So you know the drill probably better that I do. Put in your time. Pay your dues and just Never Take Another Puff - NOPE! Oh, and don't worry about anyone else but yourself because that's where all your focus needs to be for quite a long while until you have this thing under control. Focus on the positives that can come with quitting - not the negatives. That too makes a big difference
  7. Congratulations Berk!! That 1st month is a huge challenge and you got through it in style with the knowledge that you were far better off as a non-smoker! Never look back Berk - only forward to much better days ahead
  8. Wow! Congratulations MD!! 9 Months is a real solid quit. Just think, next month double-digits! Keep up the great your and you'll soon be on the Lido Deck
  9. ^^^ Exactly!! Don't take any bullshit from your addict brain. You have planted some good footings for a solid quit base but, know that this addiction takes some time to beat back into the far recesses of your mind. I was always impatient to see improvements and never though I could see any but then, 1 year later I turned around and found I don't give a crap about smoking any more. It will happen fully for you pr anyone else - just give it time and keep that attitude of "Smoking does nothing good for me"!! Because .... it's doesn't!!
  10. I was out shoveling. Don't blame me! 2
  11. We just feed them because they would starve otherwise. For whatever reason, they don't fly south for winter any more. Then temps go to -20 or -30 for a few months and guess what?? No Food!! You'd think they would know that? It probably costs me $500.00 per year to feed these ungrateful dinner entrees. I'm just glad the geese don't land and feed. There's thousands of those around here all year long. Not sure what they feed on during winter but I'm just glad I'm not paying for that!
  12. My mother's preserves were a little "runny" at times too but the taste .... oh, the taste We may be frozen solid where I am but ... dinner shows up daily because, there's no other food anywhere
  13. My mother used to make strawberry preserves too but she's just too old now to do that stuff but oh man!! Yummy!!!! I miss getting a couple of jars of her stuff each year. Nothing like home made preserves And, where are you that Strawberry season is upon you? There's nothing growing here for another 4 months.
  14. ^^^ My wife was afraid to swim anywhere but an enclosed pool for probably 20 years after she saw Jaws. Even in freshwater lakes I finally got her to start going back in the ocean when we started going on vacations down south, which is basically where the sharks live isn't it?
  15. And, any of that stuff will taste WAY better now that your taste bud are alive again. Especially the jelly ....... Yummm. I like Raspberry best myself

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
