  1. MQutter is a true hero and by creating this site has saved countless lives (mine, too). Many thanks to him and to Rixcz for his updates and maintenance. The structure of the site is really attractive and accessible, v. cool. More love and appreciation to Jenny, Babs, Nicole Diver, and our Doreen for all their work keeping this place so clean and clear. I have every confidence the QTrain will not disappear but, I also have email contact with some people (which I should update) just in case of a disaster.
  2. Wrenching my brain back from addiction was my biggest challenge. I know I am not alone in this. When I started to purposefully replace smokey thoughts with thoughts of beauty, my healing accelerated. I would physically look, listen, touch or taste something of beauty to give my brain an alternative that also provided endorphins and triggered my reward response. I still use this technique if troubled in any way and it helps me stop the tape loop in my head.
  3. I taught my daughter the proper names for everything too, Jo. Perhaps, I started too young. For some reason she thought penis and vagina were two people that lived in your nose. (she admitted this to me quite a few years ago as an adult), my, how we laughed.
  4. Give it up, Reci ! How come you like to say 'weenie' out LOUD ? For the record, I said, "in-beTWEENs", the word 'weenie' wasn't involved until you said, bet-WEENIE out loud.
  5. You know it's funny, even pictures of smoke are repugnant to me and they are still so charged. It signals a warning to my brain...be careful, look about, don't smoke.
  6. Congratulations, IGT(T) on your FIVE months of Freedom.

  13. It was great seeing all the members come out to help Julie with her SOS. The newbies were right on point, the 'betweens' were as well and it was wonderful to see the Olde Phartes show up. What a great community.
  14. Every day, every crave you conquer brings all the power back to you. Soon, you won't be 'faking' it, it will become second nature. Stay aware and protect your quit. You are doing GREAT. Thanks for checking in, Diz.
  15. Spend your time wisely. Educate yourself again about nicotine addiction. Read and watch the scary films until your eyes bleed. Make lists, why you smoke, why you want to quit. Prepare. Dig in some supplies. Juices and fruit to keep your blood sugar happy. Gum or lozenges or cinnamon sticks to keep your mouth occupied. Really good foods to assist your endorphins. Think about what rewards will make a difference in your brain and reward yourself for every crave beaten. Start practicing deep and conscious breathing. You can have fun on your journey.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
