  17. I encountered some guys like that over in Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest one time. They would go out on the trails and assume different "animal forms." They were way into chanting and drum circles. And, I'm assuming, drugs...lots and lots of drugs.

  19. I hadn't honestly really thought seriously about quitting until I had been sick for a month with horrible bronchitis, went to the grocery store to do some shopping then was coughing my ass off as I returned to my car in the parking lot but still I immediately lit up a smoke upon reaching my car. I guess that was maybe just my "I get it now moment"? I decided right then to quit the next morning and I did at 8:00 AM Sunday Jan. 29, 2017. By the way, the bronchitis cleared up pretty soon after that, although I think I didn't really notice it because I was pretty out of it with my early quit symptoms.

  32. "I know I will have to push myself to go somedays but my goal is to stick with the plan no matter what..." Abby, you're already ahead of the curve. So many people starting out on a health and fitness regimen ask questions like "how do I stay motivated?" You don't. Those who have true success with a fitness plan are those who do it on the days they don't feel like it. I call those "punch the clock" workouts. And I've had some of my best workouts on those days when I started out unmotivated and totally devoid of enthusiasm. Simply beginning the movement leads to momentum and a good wave of momentum can carry you a long way. Like I say with quitting smoking: trust the process and the process will reward you exponentially.

  33. Conveniently enough, the word of the day on my calendar is "flummoxed." And now I get to use it in a sentence: When I attempt to sort through the mental diarrhea that is one of Bakon's stream of consciousness threads, I am always left flummoxed.

  34. Congratulations Albert on your decision to quit . My dad would always say if you start something Abby .... stick to your guns . He was such a great guy .. he had emphysema and heart disease . A two pack a day smoker . Quit cold turkey . He stuck to his decision Albert. Never looked back . Proud of that guy . Stick to your guns about your decision Albert . You can do this . Will there be some challenges ? Likely but because of those challenges our quits get stronger and our our life gets renewed to that of a non smoker in time Keep moving forward ; don't turn back . One day you will look back and say "wow" look ?how far I've come ! QT is smooth riding and it will take you on an adventure with friends . Welcome aboard .

  35. Something to remember when you feel like giving up. 2 or ten or 30 days in.....there are thousands of smokers who wish they had a Two day quit. Shut- just two weeks ago YOU wished you had a Two day quit. It's hard work and don't give up just to start again in a few years....cause most go a few more years before quitting again. So one smoke....years more and wasted effort. You are well on your way to a life you will love

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
