  1. We have such a diverse population here from all over the globe and so I'm wondering at this date July 2nd ; what time does it get dark where you live? I mean dark - not just sundown or twilight but a dark sky. Where I am it doesn't get dark for long this time of year. Maybe around 10:30 PM then it starts getting light at around 3:30 AM. The benefits is that as you are laying in bed half asleep at 3:30 AM, you can hear birds chirping constantly. You just don't hear that any other time of year Some of the places I have done field work in it doesn't even get dark at all in late June. The sun dips just below the horizon then .... right back up ? I'm just curious as to what others experience. I know in the southern hemisphere (Jo & GITW) it will be the least amount of daylight this time of year but that's fine. It's just the reverse of North America.
  2. ^^^^ Thanks D! This is a great post and tells it like it is. Deal with what ever issues you may face in life without smoking. If you go back to smoking, you're just avoiding the issues you are facing. How is that helping you? Hugs and support to GITW and Jo who are both facing significant health issues during their quits. Huge respect to both
  3. Yes M5! You are doing great work that will only reward you for years to come. It was at about this point in my own quit that I just knew I had this addiction beat Carry On Martian5!
  4. OK so, what's the score now anyway - Pitter Patter, Let's Get At Her ?
  5. Roz - It's been a problem ever since the new software was implemented. There seems to be a delay in posting the entry therefore when several people are playing, it gets out of whack pretty quickly. Or, maybe it's just because people get notified right away when someone posts on the thread - who knows? It's frustrating though. I'm here but my head is reeling LOL
  6. This is crazy ..... I'm out. -????
  7. I'm gutted for both of you ? Please stay with us on this board and never smoke again because we need Heroes to look up to. This quit thing is tough enough but when combined with other significant life issues it becomes even more challenging. Well done ladies for carrying the heavy load of health issues and quitting!
  8. Yes Tammy. It won't last forever even though it may seem so in early days. Lots of great stories here to help you understand how others have dealt with it. I always believed that part of the problem is that not only is your body adjusting to the lack of deadly chemicals you suck in through your lungs every 30-60 minutes of each day, your brain has so much more idle time once you've quit. Just think about all the time you spent not only smoking but the things around smoking. Smoking consumed a larger portion of your thought process each day than we realize. Suddenly .... all that's just gone - no longer there so now you have to fill that void. It just takes time. Be patient and it will happen.
  9. I'm sorry you are going through all the medical issues you are at the moment but and very happy and proud that you didn't relapse. That's a WIN for you GITW An important win! You should never be too proud to post an SOS here. No one her judges an SOS; no one! We all have been down these roads ourselves and only wish to help our fellow quitters so you are in good and safe company on this board.
  10. Just saw this GITW and wanted to add my plea for you to stay strong with your quit because just as you have that first one ciggie, you will immediately feel gutted and a lot worse than you do now! How many times have you read stories about that very thing happening with long term quitters who have chosen to smoke again - don't do it please! Don;t add another problem to your life.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
