Very dubious of clicking a disguised link off someone posting their first ever post on a forum. Would advise that no-one else clicks the link also.2 points

You need to really focus on being determined to quit "NO MATTER WHAT CHALLENGES COME AT YOU"! That's what this quitting thing comes down to in the end, as far as I'm concerned ... determination! Especially in the times of struggle. That's when you need it the most!! And yes; go use that gym pass as you begin your quit! It will give you something to do to help keep your mind off smoking while getting you in shape at the same time - win/win! Some folk swear by excersizing when they quit. Something new to get you physically involved and you won't relate it to smoking either. Give it a try!2 points

Welcome aboard Benjamin, You have just made the best decision of your life. Go ahead and grab a seat. You will have a few bumps in the road early but just know you can get past them. Always remember you are stronger than the addiction. So, just take it literally one day at a time. The days will slowly start adding up and before you know it you will wonder why you ever smoked in the first place. You got this.2 points

Cristóbal Quit Date: 14 October 2012 Posted January 14, 2017 (First Posted 01 April 2014) A crave can happen because of 2 things: 1. Physical Withdrawl Symptoms. 2. Mental or Emotional Smoking Triggers. Craves can happen frequently early in our quits, because of physical withdrawl symptoms. They can also happen simultaneously with physical cravings and then later in our quits, much less frequently, as we continue to confront triggers which are mental or emotional in nature. The important thing to remember, is that craves are *NEVER* a command !!! You N.T.A.P. them (apply to them the concept of Never.Take.Another.Puff.....just for today) as they happen. Then what happens ??? Nothing. Absolutely.......*NOTHING* !!! Your head does not explode when you say "NO" to a crave. You will not die. Life will continue, and the sun will continue to rise every day.....and so will you....and the crave will be gone and soon forgotten. At the same time, you re-program you brain and emotions to react to life as a non-smoker again. Craves create F.E.A.R. in your mind and emotions, but it is a false fear. F.E.A.R. = False.Expectations.Appearing.Real. In the case of smoking, the expectations that some horrible thing may happen if you do not yield to the crave, are ***FALSE***. The fear that craves create can appear real, if you give them life and continue to believe lies the addiction may tell you, and can seem like a command at the moment they come to you. But the reality of this fear, is that it is a fear based on lies. This fear generates a false command....a empty command, based on the lies of a addiction that has no intelligence, is in every way illogical, and exists only as a ghost in your brain. If you do nothing when you experience a crave.....nothing happens. Ever. A crave based on illogical F.E.A.R. - False.Expectations.Appearing.Real.....is never a command. Do not listen to the nonsensensical illogical lies the addiction may tell you. Instead, N.T.A.P. these craves, and N.T.A.P. your way to the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual freedom you so desparately want. Gday Sorry for the late reply SPG is a favourite of mine as well although it’s more GPS …..that’s low on the salt. mmmm like the idea of the hot water that would make the skins a bit more crispy than just patting them dry. I’ll definitly be giving that a go. i often just toss them in Italian salad dressing before putting them on a rack on the Weber Q to cook. Wing can be a bit greasy so I prick them to let the fat out 1/2 way though the cook.1 point

Hi @susie14 I'm glad you're back here regularly and focused on quitting again. You never have to be shy or embarrassed about speaking up or sharing information with all of us here about how you're trying to quit or how you're feeling about your quit. No one here will ever judge you because we have all been right where you are now. Struggling in the early days of our own quit attempts. We also understand there are many different approcahes to quitting and it's not a one size fits all kind of thing. We're all just here to help where we can, share information you may find helpful and at the very least, we're here for moral support. It's an important time when we decide to take on such a challenge and we have all benefited from the information & support that is available on this site so by all means ... dive right in and feel at home as part of our QUIT Family We're allways here to support so don't hesitate to reach out when you need to.1 point

Thanks @DenaliBlues. I know you're right. I just thought - I wouldn't have to wake up early to smoke! I kinda forget some things I do just because I smoke. And thanks @Doreensfree I think I watched some of the tobacco wars when I first came on here but I will watch them again1 point

Susie Take the time to watch The Tabacco Wars 1 and 2 on our main Discussion Board … it’s pinned in green These were a big leap forward in my early quit Talk about angry I swore never to give them any penny if my hard earned money .. Knowledge is power1 point

We all have been in your situation @susie14… ambivalent about smoking, ambivalent about quitting. Don’t give up. Apart from the health benefits, when you quit you gain such a powerful sense of freedom - freedom from hiding, freedom from shame, freedom from all of the complexities it takes to manage an active addiction. Our nicotine-addled brain focuses on what we’ll lose when we quit. But there is so much we GAIN, too. There’s a big dose of bright and beautiful freedom waiting for you with your name on it, dear. Come and get it any time!1 point

Well it's been a long time but I'm back here as I'm at that point again. Last Friday I was driving and seen a bus in my city with a smokefree helpline number. I texted it and was given a consultation date of Monday which was yesterday. Had my consultation which was basically a chat on what I'm doing now smoking wise and that I wanted to quit. The lady on the other end said I seemed very determined, I always am. Anyway the call finished with me getting a prescription for patches and lozenges. I told her I didn't want the vape. I made a conscious decision the patch was going on as soon as I got out of bed this morning and that was going to be the start of the quit. Patch has been on since 6am we are now at 10:10 and thats where I'm at. Had 2 lozenges so far and feeling good. I was starting to smoke heavier than what I have before so something had to be done and here we are. Early days I know, been here before, I needed help and the speed at which the prescription was dispatched to the pharmacy was a massive help. Next consultation next Monday when I'll get more patches and more lozenges. Looking forward to the challenge now I have the help I need.1 point
