  1. Milestone reached today. I forgot how many days it's been since I quit. HAHAHAHAH! Not for long, of course. The math was easy enough - it's only been 17 days. But, this morning is the first day that I didn't know EXACTLY how long it's been and had to count them out.

  2. I had a thought when I read this. In a way it is terrible, but in a way, this time, it is good. I am learning a great deal about myself; the addict I am (and all the characteristics of the addict me), the strength I have, how vulnerable and weak I am, how strong the community is, gaining confidence with each crave, how magnificient and resiliant our bodies are, and I am getting a glimpse of how wonderful life is without a cigarette.

  8. Good morning to all my lively fellow NOPErs. Today sees the B.Northies back to reality after their long weekend... May 8th may be Iris Day in the US... But it us also May Day or VE day the day we rember those list in WWII of all nations and its Red Cross/Crescent day.. So remember the fallen and remember those who volunteer to ease our burden. @Whispers hope its a better day mate. @Rozuki hope your recoveries coming nicely, was thinking of you and sending healing vibes. Edit: with only 230 sleeps til Santa comes might be time to start working on that wish list. Now the real important shit... Today, I pledge to honour the NOPE... Because nothing controls my life but me. Topic of the day: things that grow

  9. Dear, Darling Smoke Free Creatures, Ren reminded me how important accolades and appreciation are to someone quitting smoking. We may not find it at home, non smokers don't really understand and smokers....well you can't count on them anymore. So, I want to take this opportunity to tell each and every one of you, how marvelous you are for quitting smoking. It is a really big deal to conquer a deadly addiction and all y'all are succeeding in a grand manner with a lot of grace. Considering how crazy the journey can be, I want you to know how admirable you are, for sharing your stories and helping others we may not even hear from or see. I want you to know that our collective experience can save lives. That is a mighty precious gift. Thank you all for your presence, for the gifts you bring and your honesty. I hope you hear the roar of applause and accept my heartfelt thanks for helping me stay on the good foot. Y'all are awesome. S

  11. Enjoy the ups when you have them, and harness the satisfaction and strength you get from those ups to help sustain you in the lower moments. You've got a fantastic attitude, and that is going to help you out A LOT! Edited to add: I'm having a particularly wonderful day today myself. Didn't even THINK about a cigarette until I'd been up for about an hour and a half. Celebrate the accomplishments!

  12. NOPE 50 days, going strong...a week or two without nicotine lozenges too! I keep forgetting to pick up some regular mints to replace them... I'm still very excited for myself but no one in my real life seems to care anymore! I get it, you have your own life to live, BUT GUESS WHAT I DIDN'T HAVE A SMOKE TODAY what did YOU do that's so darn special because I feel like Superwoman! ?

  15. @Ren I totally remember how after a few months, everybody stopped congratulating me on a job well done, and were of the opinion that since I'd gone without smoking for that long, I was in the clear. Obviously, I wasn't. So, WELL DONE YOU! 50 days is an awesome accomplishment, and you are a total Superwoman!!

  19. The process of quitting smoking will not only lead to you breaking free from the shackles of cigarettes, if you really tune in, the process teaches many valuable lessons. Confronting self-doubt. Setting a goal and achieving it. Learning the value of long-term benefits over instant gratification, etc., etc.. Strength begets strength. Success begets success. Long live the process!

  20. Well, right back atcha', Sazerac! You're so right: no one in the world can understand the struggles, or the feelings of accomplishment, like those of us that have quit. I sometimes forget that it really IS a big deal.....lives are being saved. We are ALL warriors and victors.

  22. @TravellingSunny Thanks for the encouragement! It's a frustrating place to be, this no man's land....I love that we can still celebrate our quits like the BIG DEALS that they are together on here! My most insidious addiction thought creeps in when no one cares, it makes it not a big deal that I quit, which makes it not a big deal to start again...even though I know if I did, everyone would be wailing like banshees! ?

  25. Yes i had the fog!!! No-one really believed me about how bad it was but i seriously couldn’t think properly for a long time. I tried to avoid controversy, arguments or anything that required me to think something through rather than just lose my sh*t. I actually still have it. It is less than 1,3,5 months ago but i still don’t think it completely gone. Moral to the story is try not to fight with me because im not quite the full quid yet. ?

  26. People with scurvy have bad gums and lose their teeth. So a cannibal with scurvy can only gum your limbs. Plus, they fatigue easily. You should be able to get away from him. Always look on the bright side of life... Edited to add: What did the one cannibal ask the other cannibal when they were eating a clown? Does this taste funny to you?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
