  2. So (and this applies to vaping too where you see a (V)) all these are over a decade old, some over 2.....these are law...with on the spot fines...and @garry mhudson ya see (L) they were tested in court and the laws were upheld. (Victoria, Australia) 1. (L) ... Littering with an unlit butt ...$345 2. (L) Littering with a lit butt ....$500 ** $650 on any but from a vehicle window (car)....and anyone can go to the website to do you in and there less than 1% successful challenge rate. Oh and if ya do it on a total fire ban day, triple the fine. 3. (V & L)... Smoking in a vehicle with a passenger 16 years or younger....if a passenger in the car is smoking/vaping then both the passenger and the driver get fined. If 2 passengers are smoking the driver gets a fine for each of them. Currently $350 a pop. *Don't forget it's illegal to sell vapes in Aus with nicotine, it's illegal to advertise, illegal to sell to U18, individuals can import 6weeks nicotine supplies from overseas. 4. (V) ... $500 fine for within 10m of a school fence....even on a non school day 5. (V, L) ... $500 fine within 10m of an U18 sporting event or kids park (playground) 6. (V,L) .... $250, for within 5m of the door of any public building, in an alfresco dining area/beer garden, 10m of any government buildings door (hospitals, etc), train stations, bus stops. We might live our lives upside down....but maybe it ain't such a wrong way to be...and then again considering we are just a glorified former prison, maybe we are just not used to civil liberties

  4. You sleep in mate?
  5. Like you weren't Gunna go for ya home town boy...lol...
  6. No plan...it went like this; open the purse, fruck not enough money, buy a box of NRT gum to get me through to pay day, in the chemist on payday on the way to the bank, 6 months of NRT gum was the same price as a pack of smokes...said to meself "go orn, let's see how long this can last".... 19 months today since that last smoke, 16 months-ish since the last NRT gum. Edit: well that ^ was the kind of blade post that really pissed me off in my early quit....I didn't just decide that was it and that was it....it was hard work, but I dug in and gave it a red hot go and chose each day not to smoke and then protected that commitment. Oh and I did have a plan, but it came about after the fact and it was an exit plan for getting off the NRT.... That NRT exit plan was much needed for me or I would still be chewing.
  7. There are some ripper covers out there that could see these go on for ages... So expect a lot of Aussie covers from me.
  8. @Sazerac I as thinking of running regular cover v original polls.... And totally agree with...
  9. So I've been kicking this idea around for a while...holding polls on which is better, a cover or an original...and today (28 Jun) is the 45th birthday for the song "Band on the Run"...that's right, 45 years ago today Paul and Wings released Band on the Run...and then 12 years ago the Foo Fighters covered it.... So here they are, have a listen and let us know which one is best.... The Original: The Cover: So my heart wants me to vote Foo Fighters.... BUT ...I'm just not sure they stamped enough of themselves on it....it's just a little too kareoke .. hmmmm....decisions, decisions....
  10. Good morning NOPErs... 28th of June is the last work day of the 2018-9 financial year...all the accounts types are excited for the pending eoy audits, stock takes and ledger Rollings....me despite the chilly air (6°c is cold people) and that wind whipping in from the Arctic this morning had blue skies (not grey) and this strange bright yellow ball...O-M-G...it's the SUN!!!!!....and I will stand by the fishponds and fountains at work and breath in the chilly air with my lovely smoke free lungs! NOPE...gives you more time just to be.
  11. Oh and we don't have a dryer at our place, we use the clothesline ..lots of us have dryers but most people I know really only use them if the rain won't stop. Dunno why..maybe we are just tightarses and don't want to waste money in the power bill...or maybe it's to do with national pride in the hills hoist.
  12. Winter down in the wonderful land of Aus...today is their last day of term 2 so they get a 2 week break...but back to school mid july. So our lot get 6weeks in summer, or as we know it the Christmas holidays, then 3 * 2 week term breaks private/Catholic schools tend to get more, especially high schools.
  13. Ironing a flipping white shirt for the kid...cos she has an extra uniform day this week (normally pe uniform 2 days and winter/summer uniform 3 days) cos it's end of term mass..frickin hate ironing.
  14. Bird clean ya fruckin room!, Bird just do ya frickin homework!... Bird, put some fruckin socks on/have ya fruckin puffer/get up/go to bed/just do wot ya fruckin told/where's the sick glue those socks are doing me head in....oh, my bad, common sayings for everyone, not just in our house... A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. (yeah-NAH mate, ya doin it wrong)
  15. Good evening fellow NOPErs....so happy Multiculturalism Day Canada...but let's go a bit more obscure, our lovely friends in the yank tank give us today "National Hand Shake Day"....that's right boys and girls a day to celebrate the art and traditions of the humble handshake...so as it is a non verbal for of communication we are reasonable sure it existed before most written history...did you know for instance that the ancient Mesopotamian king's would shake the hand of a gold statue upon taking the thrown and annually there after to bring them prosperity and wisdom? What we do know is that its popularity soared as a greeting in the middle ages as a form of greeting so that you could suss out if the person you were meeting had a concealed weapon...because the chances a chick having a weapon were slim (unless you were talking Viking chicks) it did not become a tradition for women to shake. So did you know different countries have different handshaking edicates?...the Aussies, yanks, kiwis, Canadians and Russians expect a firm handshake with eye contact however most Asian cultures expect a soft or limp handshake and unless your in the Philippines no eye contact. So my challenge for today, should you choose to accept it, is to shake hands with one person you normally would offer a handshake too. So for me it's a nope to floppy fish handshakes...and a NOPE putting anything in my mouth and smoking it.
  16. Corned beef left in the slow cooker as I walked out the door.
  17. Hey @Ankush those are some great ideas...but the NOPE threads serve a purpose for non movers too...there are many who read these and it can be the final straw they need to decide to quit...when I first quit I think I read the nope threads every day for a month then for a few weeks I'd like everyone's NOPEs but I just couldn't make the post myself because E=ever...and it took reading someone explain how the E for them meant ever again, or just for today, for me to get past that psychological hurdle. The Nope threads are one of my faves. And while I know I am defo in the odd category there must be others out there like me.
  18. Keepin on with the dedications thins one goes out to @Sslip (an all our other mountain climbing fools).....
  19. Good morning NOPErs....I see our resident Seafarer hit the terps yesterday for Global Seafarers' Day or did he??? We keep telling you peeps us Aussies live in the future.......but do you believe us nope, it's real heard remembering to trim a year when we talk dates....soooo 26th of June is Helen Keller Day a day for celebrating the achievements of this great woman but also a day for recognising and celebrating our own triumphs over adversities...so we may not all have surmounted being deaf and blind from birth but by Noping for the rest of our lives there is something to celebrate, so our adversity (nicotine addiction) was self induced...doesn't mean that quitting and keeping our quit is not an achievement we should not be rejoicing. NOPE.... Today, tomorrow, forever.
  20. So Google B1tch just told me that today is World Selfie day which one observes by Sharing a selfie... So let's get this ball rolling.....
  21. Good morning fellow NOPErs and welcome to the Winter solstice...oops most of you mob are Northies...so strike that, reverse it, and for the majority of you above the equator welcome to the Summer solstice...and your longest day of the year! And the start of summer/winter clothing down here when winter started 21 days ago because we are a tad lazy and just go by the months, none of that science mumbo jumbo that considers axis tilts, and positions in relation to that giant miasma of plasma we orbit around, Nope, down here tis simple, 1june - 31 August ... Winter....cos she'll be right. So regardless if it's the longest day if the year or the shortest day of the year there really is only one kind of day and that's a NOPE Day. Except today is also World Selfy Day...so head on down to the social threads to celebrate this with us...did you know Aussies invented the word Selfie...yep, cos we are pretty awesome at this language gig. Nope, cos nothing controls me but me
  22. Congratulations @Tammy for being one year smoke free! We have all been so lucky to have you join us with the support and inspiration you offer. Your amazing gift with words that aren't even in your first language have littered the boards for all those to follow to be inspired by. I am so happy to be the first to raise a glass and say well done and congratulations. Now it's time to party....
  23. Wondering if anyone else wonders if @Cbdave wets the bed on the mornings he starts the NOPE at 4am?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
