  1. I can't remember but I think my quit date was 25th October 2017. So I'm pretty sure I'm 4 months.
  2. Sudden death is getting out of it lightly compared to having a smoking related disability. Not often talked about the indignity and suffering in some of those diseases.
  3. Speaking from experience of this, no-one (or most people) who relapses actually thinks they will ever become hooked again. It's like hey I would never smoke again but give me one just to see what it's like. It's been so long. This is also the same tra[ that happens when we first got hooked. We didn't decide we would be a smoker then have the first cigarette. We had that first one and then another and then another and before we knew it we were hooked. This is often the same with the relapser (who has been quit for a long time). They think they won't get hooked again because they are so happy not smoking.
  4. I can vouch for Chris's character. He is awesome! :-)
  5. Happy birthday Beazel. Nice to see you here.
  6. HI Greg and Doreensfree. I just woke up and went to pledge at QSMB and it's down. I came over here to start my day with a pledge. Hope this is ok.
  7. Congrats Babs
  8. It's taking time for me to adjust to strong emotions. I'm sure it's just a time thing. I know quitting is the right thing so whatever comes with that is incidental to my quit. I feel more now. that's it. I feel more and have to learn other ways to deal with this.
  9. I heard this is to discourage kids from smoking. Peep;e often start off buying the small packs.
  10. So sorry to hear your news Evelyn. I hope your breathing improves with quitting. I've heard people report that it does even though they have emphysema or COPD. One of the images I keep in my mind is being attached to an oxygen bottle and not being able to walk far. This happens from smoking. We know this often but choose to not think about it. I guess now you know it for real. Perhaps this is the main difference for you now from pre-diagnosis to post diagnosis. The only difference is you KNOW this now and can't deny it anymore.
  11. I watched this after a tough day. Great doco's. Makes you realise how underhanded this industry is.
  12. Good post. Its something I'll keep in mind and watch out for myself, just in case I'm ever happy. I'm BTW not relying o this happening soon.
  13. I go by the theory of low dopamine and we are looking to increase it. Exercise is good to supplement the eating. It also increases dopamine. I also have put on weight but not eaten any more. I have health issues so I can't "pig out". Pig out is the term we use in Australia when we eat excessively and eat bad food choices.
  14. Nice one Doreen. Just for future reference me personally needs the hug. Just so you all know. :D
  15. Congratulations. So good to do it while the family is young.
  16. Nancy Nice to meet you, again. I like yoga too when someone else is doing it not me. I'm handsome as a girl I've been told. That was weird when a man said I was handsome. Congrats on your 3 month quit and I'm totally jealous since I want one of those but have to wait.
  17. Soz you're sick. I got rid of hay fever allergies when I stopped dairy food and perfume. I was sick with them for years. Hope you're feeling better soon.
  18. I definitely relate to that Babs, I'm 45, I wish I quit sooner but I didn't and now have more consequences to deal with from smoking. If I continue smoking it will only get worse.
  19. "I could get hit by a bus" This is statistically highly improbable (I mean how many f#*king people got hit by a bus in the last century), however dying of a smoking related disease has a chance of at least 66% according to recent figures. These figures don't include the toll of pain and suffering of the smoking related problems you don't die from and the potential disability.
  20. NOPE I won't smoke today. Please join me.
  21. Thanks for the video. It is concerning the health consequences of smoking. :-(
  22. And we get to like the mod posts. I give that a like.
  23. That's a great idea. Thanks for letting us know.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
