Can't sleep, bloody brain keeps thinking about it
Sazerac replied to Tammy's topic in The S.O.S. Board
Hello Tammy, You are in the thick and grimy bit of fighting nicotine addiction and all you can do is live through it. Little comfort, I know. Take walks, scream in the shower, dance around wildly. Power through. Begin to re-train your brain and replace smoky thoughts with anything else. I would chant, 'Free Your Head' repeatedly and in a few languages replete with profanities. This is temporary. You have more power than you may realize. You have the ability to change your thoughts, even if you are just faking it to make it through. Visualize a flower, an ocean, changing clouds and replace smoky thoughts with some beauty. You don't smoke anymore and that is a truly fine thing, Tammy. Glad to see you posting ! Happy to have you as an important member of this community. Hang in there, protect your quit. -

It's a shame bakon had to manipulate the photos and add 30 years and 30 pounds to me but, it made him feel young and beautiful , why just look at him ! and I'm all for that. Joe, the important thing in the pic with the Missus and friend and me was the Willie's Fried Chicken. Our bakon has a few sobriquets.

Granted, I was a reluctant egg many, many years ago until bakon said that the Eggs were just bad girls. Then, there was no choice but to surrender. I am an Egg. I am an Iconic Egg with appropriate footwear. I had so much fun and more to be had tomorrow.

"Caring For Our Quit" by John R. Polito
Sazerac replied to MarylandQuitter's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Protect your quit, friends. Protect it with everything you have, everything you are. Freedom from addiction is a generous reward for any toil or trouble you may experience and our bodies are amazing healing machines when we give them the opportunity. -
Hey Ren, Your voice sounds really good. Congratulations on your 90 days, bebe. 90 days is an incredible accomplishment, let nothing diminish this. Polish up your badge...you don't smoke. This is awesome. I know it isn't easy to believe us but, everything will get easier. Hold on, keep powering through. You are a hero in my world, Ren.

Addiction is a bitch, G, Although my initial impetus to quit was on a whim, it took more than whimsy to succeed. It took resolve and focus. In hindsight, most of us will realize we could have made it easier on ourselves but, we must remember this is a pervasive Addiction . Once our resolved is established, it is just a matter of focus and time but getting there can be grimy. The voice of the addict is a seductive menace. Congratulations on your quit, G. I look forward to your year celebration in the Fall.
