  12. Tell us one thing you couldn't do as a smoker that you're now able to do. Me: Hiking/Backpacking. Will be heading off on a 9 day backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in a few weeks. Here's a pic along the trail. Humphrey's Basin

  16. Congrats on day 7 Steven. One whole week! Your struggles aren't over yet but the worst of it is in that you will get more and more "comfortable" days going forward and the benefits of quitting will start becoming more and more evident! It's all good from here on providing you stay committed to nope!

  19. just about on your LUCKY 13 days of Freedom, Linda. Every moment counts. Every crave diverted, every trigger faced will lead you to a new era of self confidence and profound trust in yourself. Please reward yourself and assist your brain to deliver endorphins, that delivery system was gangstered by nicotine. S

  20. Understanding the addiction is an important component to building a successful quit, Steven. It explains much of what we experience. Here are some resources The Power Of Nicotine Addiction from Joel Spitzer Nicotine and The Brain a lecture found by MLMR

  22. You're doing great Steven! Tomorrow will be a week and if you can do a week, you can do 2 weeks!!

  23. Yes! This is absolutely true Stephen but now you can also see many people just like you have broken free from their addiction and this is also possible for you and anyone else who believes in themselves and wants to be a nonsmoker! Soon you will start focusing on the positives you are already seeing (have you checked your wallet lately?)

  25. Yay for you (and dogs are the best company early in a quit -- they don't talk too much and like to go for lots of walks).

  33. What Jim said. ^^^ First off, not knowing how you are going to get through quitting is a troubling sign. Believe that you can quit. That is very important. Any smoker who really wants to quit can do so. There are plenty of ex-smokers on this site who have proven that by quitting for good. Stick around this site. Read all you can about nicotine addiction. Post a lot here about your experiences, struggles, etc. We've all been through this. Education about nicotine addiction and support from fellow quitters really helps. You can get both here.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
