  7. Hello darling smoke free creatures. I have returned and very glad of it. I had a great break. Completed one abandoned painting and almost finished with another. Super happy about this. Got a lot of writing done and some powerful thinking as well. Thank you for your well wishes, love you guys. During my little holiday, I learned some new machete skills... may come in as handy...so, watch out. Bring on the bingo, @notsmokinjo

  13. Thanks for checking in and giving us an update on being nicotine free for 25 days ! This is how NRTs are supposed to work. Excellent job, Tyler. Remember cravings are not commands. They are just synapses in your brain that haven't gotten the memo that you quit smoking yet. You quit smoking ! Celebrate and reward yourself for every crave conquered, every trigger disarmed. You are in power, not the addiction.

  14. Well, this ^^^ is a beautiful surprise to see after my 'away week' ! Congratulations A on your Five Days of Freedom ! Stay vigilant and your power and self-respect, self-confidence will increase tenfold ! I saw earlier in the thread that you were going to take sips of Red Bull when you had a crave. Be aware that cleaning nicotine from your system can often change your tolerance to caffeine, just something to be aware of. Possible Changes In Caffeine Tolerance

  23. What I definitely love most about quitting: less anxiety in my life. Overall, I am much more calm and easy going than when I smoked. Being able to breath through sheer panic is the best thing that ever happened. Knowing I was able to quit has been super empowering, on many levels.

  28. Cravings ease with time and everyone is different in regards to how long it takes. Still, we've all smoked for a long time so it takes a while to get past the thought of smoking as a crutch during certain times. Just remember, that cigarette will not help anything. It will just destroy your quit and you will have to start over from the beginning and sometimes people even struggle with trying to start over. What you are experiencing is absolutely junkie thinking. You are doing great with 2 months smoke free. Keep the quit and things will continue to gradually get better. You are doing great and what you are experiencing is normal.

  29. Hi Kate, first of all congratulations on two months quit!!!! And yes, its totally normal to still be craving cigarettes. We smoked for years so it's going to take a good amount of time to get past all the things that made us want a smoke. The good news is that, like you said above, they are already getting weaker and you don't feel a need to SOS. That's GREAT! We have a One year pledge pinned to the main forum that many of us take because we believe that it takes a full year to get past most of the cravings you'll face throughout the year. It's a pledge to yourself that you will stay as close to the board as possible to enable yourself the support you need. Hopefully you'll think about taking it. Please stay healthy and remember that quitting is your best bet at doing that

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
