Today is my Mom's death day anniversary (lung cancer) She died the day before my youngest daughter's 6th birthday. For the next 4 years, my daughter cried herself to sleep the night before her birthday. (we never mentioned my mom at that time, she simply remembered) On her death bed, my mom asked me to to promise her I would quit smoking. I made that promise to her - never intending to keep it. That was 31 years ago.......... KTQ While I'm here................. I would like to say something to any lurkers reading this - I smoked for over 46 years (some people here have smoked even longer than that) I am a serial quitter with many failed attempts under my belt If you are here at the Quit Train, you probably are thinking about quitting I hate to sound cliche, but if I can do it - anyone can do it So please take a leap of faith, stop thinking about it, you can do it...you can quit smoking! You will find strength you never new you had One day at a time... some days may be rough, but sometimes life is rough There is always someone here for you, you will NEVER be alone in this Put down the excuses and do this for you!
  2. G'day NOPE for me me C

  4. NOPE from me today.
  5. Nope. Smoking is not an option.
  6. Good morning to me lovely fellow NOPErs and welcome to Hump Day. Well today sees us with a choice of celebration Garden Exercise Day & Applesauce Cake Day.... hmmm... not really into the gardening but have a bag of grannies i could sauce and bake so it seems I'll be Applesauce Caking. OH, incase they don't have em where you live, grannies are not little old ladies who spoil you they are Granny Smith Apples... cos its not Hannibal Lector cake day. So... to excercising by gardening and destroying my lungs I say NOPE ... not on a day ending in y. Topic of the day: Keeping it as Secret Pleasure Songs

I have confidence in my quit and estimate my chance of relapse is low still...addiction is a wily condition and I am human. 13. Well done Beazel. You sound a lot like me. Lots of practice at quitting (failed attempts), I smoked for many years and my Mum died of lung cancer too. I remember when she was dying I kept thinking I should quit smoking but I can't. We need the right support and education to quit and it is definitely doable. I appreciate seeing you here on the board. ☺️
  14. That's right folks! 74th anniversary of D-Day today, June 6, 2018. Allied forces assault on Nazi Germany that helped turned the tide of WWII but at a horrendous cost in human lives. Proud to be Canadian today as we gave 5,000 lives that day and another 14,000 casualties in the pursuit of the freedoms we all enjoy today! Well done lads! May you rest in peace now and forever and, thank you for your ultimate sacrifice.
  15. Most of the Aussie force was occupied in the Pacific with the Japanese, we only had about 5000 (mainly navy and airforce) participate in D-Day with the loss of only 14 lives (2 RAN, 12 RAAF) .... we still commemorate the sacrifices of our allies... so to the Brits at Gold & Sword, the Canadians at Juno and the Yanks at Omaha and Utah .... we will not forget.

If your life is going off the rails and you start to think having a smoke will calm things down. ~ think again, get right with yourself, contact an ally, post an SOS ~ When you feel crappy and a bit down thinking a smoke will make you feel better. ~ think again, get right with yourself, contact an ally, post an SOS ~ When you need to give yourself a little pat on the back for a job well done, and a smokes seem the right reward. ~ think again, get right with yourself, contact an ally, post an SOS ~
  20. Congratulations @WeegieWoman for being 7 months smoke free. Well done Weegie you are doing so well with your quit. Thanks for everything you do around the board, the advice, the support, trying desperately to get the chat room happening, putting everyone except for Boo, Frezflops & PeaceTrain to shame with your exercise regime. Everyone on the QT is lucky to have you along for the ride. So hurry up and get back from your holiday so we can all give you a proper woohoo. So in addition to the holiday make sure you do something non sporty and non alcoholic to spoil yourself. Huge effort, especially seeing as hubby smokes socially, you are really doing a fantastic job.
  21. Oh wow thats me just back, thank you very much everybody for the kind words. The holiday certainly brought up some smoking thoughts which i absolutely never anticipated one iota. But i just kept strong and was fine. But with summer holiday time approaching, and lots of us here may be going on our 'first' smoke free holiday - i just wanted to mention your holiday may bring on smoking thoughts!! So maybe have some plan of action. I was getting thought after thought after thought!!! But i just kept saying dont let a thought turn into a crave and that squashed it for me. Im hoping now im back i will settle back into my normal groove again!!! Thanks again everyone, 7 months is fabby.
