Let's just be honest and lay it all on the table: The most exercise I'm going to be getting is hauling laundry up and down the stairs and chasing my 3 year old... I mean he does go pretty fast sometimes and he's heavy to carry around. So, there's that. Oh! I started doing a small bit of yoga in the mornings.4 points

That's good. Falls in line with NEAT (Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) which is really just a fancy sounding fitness industry term for moving around more. People typically see more results from being active throughout the day than if they just go to the gym and plug away on a treadmill for an hour. The only difference between exercise and activity is the label we put on it.3 points

Hello all, I just joined a minute ago, and glad to be part of a recovery community. I had my last cigarette an hour ago, and want it to be my last. I had two days, and then allowed myself to be triggered by a really stressful event. That is when I fall down. Good to be with you.2 points

Tomorrow, at the 11th hour, of the 11 Day of the 11th Month. Please take a moment to remember those who gave their lives to ensure WE could live in freedom. Regardless of the conflict they fought in, we owe them a debt that can never be repaid. Their reality ............................ Our reality ..............................2 points

Hey Boo isnt that "the most interesting guy in the world" that says "i dont walys masturbate, but when i do, i use a woman"? xD Congrats missdixie!2 points

Yep. Browns and rainbows rule the trout fishing game here in Tennessee. On occasion, you'll catch a small brook trout here and there. If we're gonna have a fish fry, I'll move down stream and catch some striped bass. Far less regulations concerning "keepers" and damn tasty as well.2 points

This just made my day! On my way to mosey over to the bus stop... will chase little one home. My daughter walks like a person, on the sidewalk... but my son is *all animal* still, just all over the place2 points

Welcome aboard NoMore. Really commit to making that one the last one and you're good to go. Take advantage of the information available here on the Quit Train. Learning about nicotine addiction dispels the myths and lies of the cigarette. And you're surrounded by quitters here, so feel free to ask any questions you may have. Congratulations on choosing freedom over cigarettes. Good call.2 points

Welcome NoMore! We're happy to have you as part of our family of quitters Please read all the stuff you can here, particularly the "pinned" posts at the top of the page. Understanding this addiction is really important. You mentioned about the stressful event that caused you to relapse? We believe that smoking will reduce stress from life events but in reality, smoking just reduces your anxiety that comes from needing to feed the addiction of smoking. Your life events are still there whether stressful or not. Smoking does nothing to fix those issues. Get rid of the anxiety you create for yourself by smoking and needing to feed that addiction every hour or so and you'll be that much further ahead. Hang around and let us support you on your journey to freedom!2 points

I just wanted to make an effort to check in, Reciprocity noticed I had been missing and reached out. (That was just a wonderful feeling) Mom has been at cyberknife all week. Not sure if I had mentioned the cancer is now in her liver they have begun immune therapy and cyberknife. She is in good spirits and the morning of her first treatment a white morning dove landed in my yard which made me feel that is a sign. Work has been bit crazy and uncertain. Waiting for my Boss to return from the Keys to find out if I will have a job next year (he decided to leave NY but never really wrapped things up.) He was trying to get us here in the NY office to come down to Florida but that is not an option for me. Thinking that 2018 will be a year for change. And really hoping it will bring Mommy a break from treatment. I have been busy with Church now that I am officially a Eucharistic Minister I have been visiting a home bound women after church. Anyway I wanted to check back in and see what is new with everyone. I see the layout of the site has changed that is what I get for being missing LOL.1 point

Move the big rocks first. You've quit smoking which is the single most important thing you can do for your health. Pat yourself on the back, you've accomplished something great for yourself. If you feel the need to lose weight later on, small changes over time make all the difference. You're changing your life for the better. It's an ongoing process with no finish line...time is on your side.1 point

Right around the two-week / one-month mark, my sense of smell started to improve dramatically. You don't have to wait long for the benefits to start adding up.1 point

I look at this in a different light then when I was first quitting. I was using patches first 2 days then showered on the 3rd day and forgot to put on a new patch. Wasn't much different after a couple of hours so I decided to not put on another patch. I went CT from there on because it just made sense to me that I should just get it all done ASAP and it has worked out very well. It seems to me that a lot of people are looking for a short cut (myself included). Some magical pill or potion to avoid the early quit symptoms. I now see those early quit symptoms as as dues payable for all those years of abuse. Once paid .... freedom awaits1 point

I'd quit for about a year before I stumbled across this site. My quit was to honor the memory of somebody who died as a result of smoking. Worked out well for quite awhile as the sense of loss overlapped. I was one angry cuss. But as with all storms, it eventually passed. I like hanging out on this site much better then raging at "there is no plod but entropy and chaos is his profit." Oh yeah, and I used the patch until I got around to quitting cold turkey.1 point

I saw that! I picked this name because we take promises really seriously in my house... mainly this is something I do with my little girl. We make a promise and she always says "Pinky Promise" and sticks out her little finger, waiting for mine It kind of seals the deal... and we're on a 100% winning streak with the promises over here, so it always gives her a lot of comfort. Re: the vaping. I will spare the long version lol, but before I knew of quit smoking forums or communities, I just had my personal circle of friends & family to chat up about their quitting process and that's how it came about. I feel good about it, confident, prepared to step away from it as well. I can understand and accept that the majority of the online ex-smoking community doesn't consider it a "quit" -- it makes sense. I feel very relieved though, that I'm permitted to openly share that this is part of my process.1 point

Hello Tyme2B, just wanted to see how you're doing with your quitting date coming up That's very exciting!! I have been plowing through trying to find things that help me and some do, some don't as much. Personally, I very much enjoy feeling in control of things This quitting smoking... well, there have been a lot of times I have felt completely OUT of control of it... like how my body is feeling, the withdrawals or cravings, what to do while I sit on the patio or while I'm working, I mean, just all kinds of things. And slowly, one thing at a time I'm taking steps to reclaim the control over these things -- some are far more difficult than others lol I went one day and started reading up all that I could about how smoking impacts our brain's dopamine production and just trying to wrap my hands around all of the things I was feeling... scatter brained, fatigue, irritability, sleepless, stressed out. Knowing these things are a relatively normal part of the process still wasn't doing much for me in the way of wanting to have some control over the situation. So, I picked up some tips as far as how to naturally boost dopamine production and thought -- at least I can have control over these things. I got all exited about hitting up the local produce stand with my list of dopamine enhancing fruits and veggies LOL -- watching a beginner's yoga video on youtube every morning and clumsily doing my "sun salutation" -- listening to music that I love while I get things done around the house. So, I have prepared, portioned, and frozen all these broccoli, kale, avocado, pineapple smoothies and I'm not gonna lie -- I have NO idea if any of this stuff is actually physically increasing dopamine production I do feel more in control of what I'm doing though -- I feel like I'm actively participating in my quit rather than just being along for the ride like I was the first couple of weeks. And so if this is all just some kind of placebo affect, well, ok then, but at the very least I know they can't hurt, it's healthy, I feel like I'm doing something.1 point
