Prayers, please

I can't go back and tell the whole story..too heartbreaking...but I think you will understand

I'm okay.  My Mom had to have some surgery.  She got up last Thursday and could not control her bladder.  She had what is called spinal stenosis.  There was a bone pressing on a nerve that made her not able to control.  The surgery was Friday, and she is being moved to a rehabilitation facility today.

In the meantime, she has decided that she and my Dad need to move to an assisted living facility near Winston-Salem, NC.  There are 3 living children, and 2 grandchildren, and 3 of the 5 live in that area, so it makes sense.  My nephew, Will, is with them and trying to get things coordinated.  My Dad cannot stay by himself, so Will is making arrangements to have someone stay until Mom comes home or the move.  He is there, now.  It is very scary for all of us, but them living 5 1/2 hours from the nearest relative (me) has ceased to make sense.  Mom has cared for Dad for years, and she just cannot do it anymore.

For those who do not know, my Mom is 91 and Dad is 98.

Prayers, please!

I understand how that has to be terrifying......

However, I can say that assisted living facilities are the neatest trend in our elder population today.  It gives them such a sense of belonging and socializing while continuing to maintain a sense of independence.

Have faith.  I know it's hard but all it takes is a mustard seed.

When I get old, I'm moving into one of those places and I'm gonna have a BLAST !!!!!

I will be praying for you and your family.

Absolutely Nancy.

Caring for ageing parents is a bittersweet endeavor.  All the best to you and your entire family.

Sweet Nancy, sending love and light to your parents and you all in such a worrying time. Love you. xx

Praying for you

Keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Nancy, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Prayers going up.  There is nothing easy about this kind of thing.  I'm glad they both have such awesome family support.  Many don't.

How are you doing Nancy ?

Thank you for asking.  I am a big mess, but getting through it. I went to the doctor today ang got a prescription to help me calm down.

Good you went to your quack for calm down medicine, smart thinking.

This is going to be a big process and seriously stressful, I can only imagine all the layers, emotional and practical and physical.

Hang in there and stay close, we will commiserate and maybe make you laugh a little.

Breathe and take one day at a time, or hour at a time.  We are your allies.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Said same thing to me when I found her lost shoe under the bed

Is your Mom better ?  Have they sprung her yet ?

How is your Dad ?

Ready for the migration ?

How is Will ?  Stars in his crown.

Are you feeling any better ?

Remember to breathe through all this anxiety.
