Barely hanging in there

Featured Replies

I'm in a game right now but I have this incredible urge to smoke. I think I am actually going to go outside and finding a smoke. I'm deep breathing and drinking water.

Indigo.

You are not going to smoke. Period.

You are having a craving, welcome it. Talk to it. It is a sign that you are winning.

The nicotine is out of your system. your body has no desire for it.

Your addiction is playing tricks on you. Trying anything to make you go get a smoke.

this will pass!

don't do it.  Urge to smoke passes when you are a non smoker...but smokers have this urge every 20 minutes.  It's a never ending cycle.  YOU are breaking that cycle by NOT smoking that one little puff.  It's that simple.

hang in there!!

Already you have saved $40.

You smell better.

The crave cannot harm you, it cannot MAKE you do anything.

Just DO NOTHING.

You can do this Indigo.

You will do this Indigo.

You will ride this out. Relax and breathe.

Do anything but smoke!  If the game is causing you to think you want to smoke...quit the game.  Leave for home.  Rant, rave, cry, scream, sing, dance...do anything but smoke!! You will hate yourself if you smoke, and we will celebrate your victory tomorrow when you get through this!

Thanks everyone. I've managed through it.

See?  See that?  Remember this next time!  Build on it.  Each triumph over the mind games the addiction will play will bring you pride and joy and relief and determination and relief and relief and relief.  Do not succumb to the addict.  NOPE.

Good job Indigo

Indigo, you just hang in there. If you have had a strong urge to smoke it means you are winning this. If you think of your craving's as being a toddler , kicking their legs and waving there arms about. As a parent you would ignore it, and before long your child will realise that that way of asking will not work.

You are doing so well, keep posting of you need to.

Now go reward yourself something nice to drink eat, wear etc as you just won a battle x

Thanks everyone. I've managed through it.

That's it!  Manage through it!  Do this every time.  Proud of you for posting and powering through.  xx

Not One Puff Ever

I'm going to go throw away someone's butt that I saw outside that's in the path of my usual walk, and then go see Deadpool.

Each time you fight you get stronger. I am proud of you!

I went out and the cigarette butt out there was gone before I got to it, so I feel less tempted. And Deadpool was a great movie! I'm so glad I didn't go out there and take that smoke.

I missed this post when it was relevant, but want to give a shout out to all the guys/gals who responded, and "talked you down"

That's how it works here.... When you struggle, shout out to us, and someone will be by your side to help you thought it!!

And a big high 5 to you for listening to the advice givin and holding on through the that rough patch!

There will be other hurdles, but each on you get through, makes the next hurdle a little smaller... Pretty soon they are nothing more than a bump in your path that you go right past without hardly noticing.

Congrats and onward to on other day!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy you posted an SOS and YOU did the work of beating that craving down to the pavement and stomping on it's ugly head! Wow, where did THAT come from?! So proud of you indigo for keeping your precious quit! Sorry I wasn't here to help you through, but you had PLENTY of great help I see :D
