  • I agree with everything you said.   I re-pledge my commitment for 1 year (I too already pledged somewhere else).   Sorry people, you are stuck with me for a while :p

I am committing to one year. I hope as I continue to develop a solid quit that I can be helpful and supportive to all.

I'm up for the one year pledge too! We can do this 💪

I am already past the first year.  So, I am committing to the next year of being smoke free.

I made this commitment in 2020 I made that commitment then a few short months later I relapsed. I am not okay with the relapse. It is not okay to relapse. I am determined to be that non-smoker. I remember that my pledge to this commitment it was one of the best pledges I made. It helped me quit. So here I am I making that pledge again. I am pledging to this commitment.

Nana...

Welcome back @Nana20, I was JUST thinking about you a couple days ago when I ran across one of your posts!

Glad you're ready to get your forever quit, stick close 😊

Great post!  Thank you for sharing this.

I am committing to one year.  I would like to commit to the rest of my life, but that may be over-zealous, even though, today, I feel that confident.  Losing a lung may leave you short of breath, but not short of common sense.

I know why I’m here, I know what I have to do, and I’m just thankful enough to God for saving my life to feel I’ll succeed this time.

I commit to one year quit.  I’ll admit that I’m going to struggle to do that for me.  Committing for today is as far as I can go for me.  I’ll commit to one year for my brother.  That I can and am happy to do.

Hopefully somewhere down this road I’ll be happy to do it for me too 👍

I commit to integrate into this community of people who have smoked and quit!
I Still am struggling, sorry, I'm reading NTAP by Joel Spitzer.
I romanticize the cigarette. I am sticking to this forum for exchange of ideas.

The last time I cold turkey-ed, I made it 2 weeks. Then self-pity hit me and as if a "gift from the skies" sure enough my brother, a smoker, crossed path with me and I succumbed. I believe that was the final barrier before becoming an ex-smoker. Self-pity - me whining about whatever, poor-me, poor-me. A cigarrete and I was and am hooked again.!

I commit to a year of being able to take HUGE DEEP BREATHS, smelling like my aftershave all day, not shriveling up and finding my way into the dust,

Hell YES I'AM IN!!

I join the pledge to commit to being here for the long haul and paying it forward.

I come here for support....to vent....to encourage....to listen and speak truths.

I will continue to come here for my first year, because whoever I made this pledge to originally kinda knows what he's talking about.....when people slip away from their supportive community, they often slip away from their commitment to NOPE.

I read something the other day that made me ask myself....."Well Julie, why do you come here?"

I see, and am experiencing something very similar to recovery from other addictions that I have and have sought treatment for.

There is proven power in a community of positive support.

I don't come here to 'save' people......not because I don't want to save people, but because I cant save people.

As it is with any diagnoses, I can help you treat your cancer, but I cannot save you from your cancer.

I can help you treat your addiction.....but I cannot save you from your addiction.

But the strange thing is.....and if it weren't so amazing, it would be ridiculous,

When I help you,

I save myself

from my own addiction.

Im making the commitment.....Im committing to one year here.

(I really feel as if Im just re-committing. Ive already made a pledge to stay with a supportive non-smoking community for one year. In 12 step circles, many of us have something called a 'home group': a place where we commit ourselves to showing up as much for ourselves as for others. Ive done nothing more than change my 'home group'. My committment stands. It just stands here)

:)

Good morning. Just re-affirming that I am all in to committing to be here one year and beyond!
