  1. You can do this. I never thought I would make it a day, much less two days. I thought losing half of my lung would make it easy to quit. It didn’t. I still have to consciously tell myself NO everyday. I’ve smoked for most of my life; 64 years! I can’t undo that without a struggle. Don’t land where I am. A diagnosis of lung cancer. Lung cancer surgery. Now lung cancer free with the constant worry of it returning. Not a fun place to be. Quit NOW. You can do it. We are all here for you. If you fall, get back up; as many times as you have to until it takes… and it will.
  2. Marie….. I wish I had started smoking 4 years ago. Unfortunately, I started smoking 64 years ago! I quit smoking 2 months+ ago. I really had no choice. I had just had half of my lung removed due to lung cancer. Hopefully it won’t come back. However, I have two lungs and I’m sure the other lung is just as black as the one they removed with malignant tumors. Don't end up where I am; learning how to breathe with half a lung missing. I’m not looking for sympathy; I did this to myself. I just don’t want to see anyone else go down this road. And, I can promise you, you will never regret quitting, but you will always regret not quitting. Welcome. Stay strong. Your worth it.
  3. Thanks everybody. What a great group. 2 months isn’t huge, I know, but it’s 2 months in the right direction so I’m happy!
  4. Congratulations @DenaliBlues. I just hit my 2 months as well. I would like to say it’s been easy, but not the case, always. Seems to get harder for me each day. Hoping that will change in time. Anyway, this is not about me, this is about you and you are doing great. Keep up the good work.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
