  1. Biggest accomplishment is my bachelor's degree, followed closely by quitting smoking. I am afraid of failure and MRSA. I love nail polish! My favorite is OPI and a brand called finger paints at Sally beauty supply. Right now I'm into all different sparkles because they seem to last well and are easy to touch up. I always love purple things, and usually have some type of purple toes. I actually just scored on three bottles of OPI sparkles for 1.80 each at Big Lots. I like makeup but don't usually wear very much. Some eyeshadow, powder, mascara and lip balm. I really like Tarte cosmetics for high end items and Pacifica (a brand based out of Portland) Unfortunately I will be working every day until April 15th. No plans but work for this girl. :(
  2. This is my favorite right now: INGREDIENTS 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil 8 ounces sweet Italian sausage, casings removed 2 celery stalks (with leafy tops), thinly sliced 1 medium yellow onion, diced medium 1/2 cup dried lentils 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth 1 bunch (about 1/2 pound) kale, preferably Tuscan, stems removed, torn into bite-size pieces Coarse salt and ground pepper 2 teaspoons red-wine vinegar DIRECTIONS In a large Dutch oven or heavy pot, heat oil over medium-high. Add sausage and cook, breaking up meat with a wooden spoon, until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add celery and onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add lentils, broth, and 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil. Reduce to a rapid simmer, partially cover, and cook until lentils and vegetables are tender, 25 minutes. Add kale and season with salt. Return soup to a rapid simmer, cover, and cook until kale wilts, about 5 minutes. Remove soup from heat, stir in vinegar, and season with salt and pepper. COOK'S NOTE You can substitute spinach or chard for the kale in this recipe. The soup can be enhanced by adding a couple of thyme or rosemary sprigs as it simmers.
  3. I quit the day after buying a carton. Held onto them for a week and then gave them to my neighbor. Glad your back!
  4. Insomnia is just part of the withdrawal process for some of us. I took sleeping meds to get through it.
  5. This is a great place to be! Welcome to the QT, and congrats on your awesome decision to become a non-smoker. Everyone has given you great advice. For me a hot cup of tea instead of a smoke was a life saver. It provides a break in the activity you are doing and is yummy too. Throw away the refrys, and setup a savings jar for all your extra cash instead.
  6. I have only seen one other person do it, it was a woman helping my father at Home Depot. She did it and he almost lost his mind. (It drives him nuts when I do it)
  7. Hell yes I am excited! I started working for my CPA father at 17 and never got out of the field. I've gone full circle through college and all different types of accounting and now I'm back home getting ready to take over the practice. The good thing is my calculator does the math part for me. :)
  8. Responsible decision = story of my life Museum or Mall?
  9. Fiction Most embarrassing story... most probably involve birthing children. However, one of my first real jobs I was getting a bunch of checks signed and literally tripped and fell face first right in front of the CFOs office. Yikes. Favorite subjects in school were history, English and psychology. Least favorite was math and PE. I have a wierd habit where I scratch my nose with a flipping motion of my hand and it makes a strange noise.
  10. Hell no!! Seriously not a fan of hairy men.
  11. ^ True story!! I lived in Portland for 4 years and drove home to watch games with my dad. Freaking insanity. Too bad you didnt make it down to Eugene.... Beaver fans don't have anything on us Ducks. ;)
  12. Crater Lake is absolutely worth seeing! Eastern OR is very different from the rest of Oregon, so it would be worth heading over that way and then down to the lake. The only other route I would really recommend would be taking the 101 all the way down the coast (because I personally love driving the 101), but you would miss a lot of the state that way. Driving down I-5 is boring as hell.
  13. Wow!! I came on to catch up a bit with things around the QT and check on who was celebrating milestones.... ITS ME!! Three months and I did not even remember! I guess that means smoking is moving its useless self further and further back in my mind. Thanks everyone!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
